Three 6 volt batteries and a crest cut out in a USA trains 50’ box car. It has lgb brg wheel sets.
That’s very sad looking WHAT EVER IT IT IS???, but on a brighter note I’m glad Dan hooked you up with the fans you couldn’t get rite so you said in another post for your scratch build. He’s a great guy…

Hard to tell from the picture? bottom shots please…
you getting any flood water??
Question: Where did you get it or who did you get it from?
It looks to me like someone’s home-grown battery trailing car. Battery dies in the engine, plug in the trailing car.
Joe… I made some like that a number of years ago when it was still feasible to use the 6 volt gel cells… They were very effective but were quite heavy…
It’s all Li-ion’s now… Same voltage and 1/4 the weight and space…
Those batteries are still around mostly used in older emergency lighting packs
Even has a toggle on off

Kind of like a factory/ aftermarket upgrade car. Very clean wiring. Came with printed instructions on use. No name on them? Car looks like it’s brand new! no wear on the wheels. I’ve got a feeling it was just in storage. Got it in a Trainz auction.
How long ago did U make these Stan??
Gel cells have been in use in Large Scale almost as long as LS has been around. Some guys still swear by them, though most of them install them in the engine. When I first got into LS back in the late '80’s Gel cells were about all that was available. There was a place out near San Diego that sold a battery/RC package for LS trains, But I don’t remember them ever selling a Bat trailing car. It could have been someone’s attempt to get into the Bat/RC market that didn’t quite work out. There have been so many small productions runs of this, that and the other specialty item over the years that came and went, it’s hard to remember them all. If you run Bat/RC and the batteries in that still hold a charge, it’ll come in handy. I’ve made 2 battery back-up cars for my trains and know a few other’s that have them.
I should have asked how do I charge these things? Do they make a special charger for these? Could I use a ni-cad charger??
They are fully charged and it appears they were never used. I don’t run battery, but hey, I could dabble!

Carefull now…Don’t go to the dark side there are no cookies!
Not sure how they are charged, but you should be able to find it on the net; search Sealed Lead Acid Batteries.
This rig by itself won’t get you battery R/C. It is simply a power source. You would need some type of Electronic Speed Control (ESC) and a radio link (both Transmitter [TX] and Receiver [RX]). Lots of choices for that part.
If you happen to have a Trackside Train Engineer it can be powered by the batteries to create a quick and dirty R/C rig.
I would probably use it to power a blower motor or something that wouldn’t need a whole RC set-up. Maybe just a high speed fast freight!! Amtrak??? switch on!!!
