Who looks Stew-pid now?

Hi All,

This just came across the wires.

Quote:
"LGBoA Signs Exclusive Agreement with Märklin"

LGB of America today announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Märklin. The agreement means that LGB consumers in North America will continue to get quality LGB products and service from their friends at LGB of America.

“I have seen Märklin’s commitment to keeping the spirit of LGB alive,” said Tony Castellano, President of LGBoA. “And now, LGB of America is prepared for a very bright future as the one-stop source for the best model trains in the world.”

LGBoA expects to receive shipments soon of LGB products from Nürnberg. Märklin has also announced that it expects to restart the successful “LGB Club” and its member magazine as soon as possible. “Containers to be shipped to our Freehold warehouse are already being prepared, and we’re pushing hard to serve our customers even better than before,” said Castellano, who noted that details concerning new products, prices and availability will be released as quickly as possible.

In conjunction with the Märklin agreement, LGBoA also announced today that its parent company, G45 Inc., has been transferred to new owners: LGBoA President Tony Castellano and Munich attorney Stefan Jakob, who represented LGBoA in the Lehmann bankruptcy proceedings. “I saw the potential in LGBoA,” said Jakob. “Now, I can see that potential becoming reality.”

Now which number was this result in the on-going poll?
Wendell, the knock at the door may not be opportunity, it may be the process server?

Process server?

Come, come Jack. Looks to me like the questions and the answers in the poll were all carefully worded. Unlike the “Ventilators” the rest of the gang pays close attention to those details.

BTW I came across a good sentence in the LGB Much “reference library”

LGB Much said:

Eine Firma, die hauptsächlich aus einer großen Rechtsabteilung bestand, die konnte so nicht funktionieren!

HJ translates:

;) :) ;)

Jim CArey? Dave Chappelle? Dubya???

Funny but every reply to the agreement deal I have read (including my own), is that this is very good news and we are all very happy an agreement has been made and so far NO ONE is angry about it, why would they be? Its the best deal for all parties involved.

But for you to post threats like that comes off as just plain vindictive BS.

Yes Jack, how DARE we all practice the art of free speech by expressing our personal opinions on a public forum ment for discussion. We’ll have to end that wont we, dont want anyone THINKING for themselves now do we.

So Jack you are advocating that no-one in the USA is entitled to voice their opinion or viewpoints on a subject that has had major disruptions to our hobby and many peoples livelyhoods??? Just because those opinions might not conform to your official dogma? Were supposed to just shut up and wait for the “official story” to be released by Pravda…How SOVIET!

I think anyone (or lawyer) who reads the comments here there or elsewhere can clearly see that each person is expressing a personal opinion as part of a discussion on a public forum.

Its called the First Amendment, and last I checked, even Dubya hasnt managed to erase that one…

Making threats like that only makes you look like a first class A-hole, even if that wasn’t that your intent…that was the result. And only REINFORCES the notion of how heavy handed and Machiavellian LGBoA has behaved during all this.

Sorry all, but I just never have responded well to people telling me my 1st amendment rights are conditional to what their lawyers decides is what I can say even when its just my opinion, I, like everyone else in this discussion, have never posed our opinions as anything other that that, just opinion, and like almost everyone else here, I’m not in the business, have no dog in this fight, have no “special sources” or “inside track” only what I can ferret out on my own and form my own conclusions based on that. Of course its speculation, and has always been presented as such, but I guess even that is too much for the Soviet Party lawyers I suppose.

So who looks Stew-pid? I’m afraid that you do…

Just my humble opinion of course.

Victor, just sip the Kool-aid don’t gulp!

If you will take breath and re-read my post you will see it is speculation also. MAY, MAY,?!

So you are saying the First Amendment is just for “The Gang”? (quoting HJ) I thought it applied to everyone.

Look, I am not an “official” in any way or form for LGBoA, I’m just a customer.

I’m just thrilled that all the negative speculation was wrong! This time.

The topic title simply refers to this:

Being a “good guy” or a “bad guy” on this forum seems to depend on whose side of the street your standing on!

Well Jack, I too am happy to admit I was wrong about alot of stuff going on with the LGB/Marklin debacle, I too am glad its over.

I am saying that the 1st amendment applies to ALL, likers, bashers, fans and ventilators and blowers or whatever air conditioning terms we use to describe participants.

I have a personal burr under my saddle as it was several of topic that I posted and attempted to hold rational discussion about the issue that got locked or nuked due to attempts by one side to stiffle any discussion at all about the very subject. So I ended up with a very cynical opinion about one side vs the other just from experience.

If I got the title reference wrong or went a little overboard, I apologize, I dont like stew, but can eat Crow.

Jack-O,

As we all know: “The devil is in the detail”. Let’s see what shows up on the shelves, let’s see how long before new product announcements are made for NA (this would for instance refer to a release date for the USRA 0-6-0).

Lots of details on this one.   The stew is still on the stove.

OTOH I hope that the NA dealers will have merchandise to sell for Christmas and that the LGBoA repair department pulls up its socks in order to save customers the multiple shipping!

PS if you like to be formal it is “Herr Müller”, just a detail!

Far from it: it has mostly to do with deportment. And the fact that some of us like their information straight, if we want to read company propaganda we know just where to find that.

Vic pointed it out quite nicely! Thanks Vic!

No problem Victor, I too have had to eat my fair share lately. I was on vacation when the topic you mention was nuked, but I may have started it the evening before I left. I never got to see a word of it. I'm glad you enjoyed your discovery of the LGB 3082-3 series. I had to get a couple of them also even though I have given up on North American prototypes. They may end up with my son that now lives in Denver. He is starting to get the "bug". At thirty plus, it is about time!

And when I want to read the negative I know where to find that as well.

Reminds me of the “kelly’s Heros” movie when Sutherland says:

"Always with them negative waves, Moriarty! Always with them negative waves! … "

JJ an J,

Nothing negative about it, just the facts: the devil is in the detail and the detail will show when actual product hits the shelves. Everything else is vapour ware! That applies to any of the mfgs!

So what’s the deal with Buffington in all this?
I thot he bought LGBoA.

Who looks stupid? Anyone who spends 90% of their time obsessing about toy trains.

Oooooh…you had to go and ask that question! Seriously though, I have avoided this topic but if Maerklin has indeed signed a contract with LGBofA then where is the bad news? Only if nothing changes will I see this as bad news because the day to day workings of LGB don’t really affect me. I wish that they would change their philosophy of making “toys” to making “scale model toys” but that is just me! Say what you will but losing LGB would have significantly hurt our hobby and I am glad that it was avoided! Yes, the devil IS in the details but for now at least it looks as if LGBofA has avoided a bullet!

At last finally some welcome clarification! Whilst I have no problem with being proved wrong I fail to see the need to call people “Stew-pid”. Perhaps LGBoA has survived though because the ownership of its parent G45 has changed? There was no mention of from whom ownership was transferred. My reservations about LGBoA had more to do with its perceived owners and their ability as opposed to LGBoA itself as an operation. It did not seem right that the people who were responsible for the demise of LGB should be allowed to escape from their day of reckoning. Perhaps those people still have a financial interest of sorts in the business but I suspect there is no longer any management or decision making interest - sleeping partners as it were. Nonetheless it has been a first class story AND with a twist at the end. Worth every penny.

According to some reports he sold whatever he was holding to Jakob. As far as anyone ever knew he was the president, no indication how many share he owned in the company.

OTOH as a German observer wrily noted when Jakob and Co were bidding : “Lawyers don’t as a rule buy toy companies, but they quite often act as trustees” (I’m paraphrasing). Soooo you figure out the rest and the stew keeps simmering. Reminds me of that “joker” who was of the opinion there would be nothing more to translate … strictly wishful thinking on his part.
Gotta run, SWMBO is of to Van for a crossbow shingding, wouldn’t want her to miss the plane!

PS Jakob will be a good fit, there will be a few matters to take care of for a lawyer. I wonder, would he work on a “pro bono” basis??? :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:

As I observed elsewhere, it will be very interesting to see what items gets delivered first.
