Large Scale Central

Who built that lovely 7.5" gauge rail flat a while back?

Sorry, to whoever built it, but I just can’t recall who made it. It was a large, mainly pre-fabbed, wooden kit of parts, and the builder made a BEEEEEYYYYYOOOOOTiful job of putting it all together and finishing it off.

We’ve got a pair of 7.25" Bettendorf trucks coming, and would like to see the flat-car afore I gets stuck into what could be an expensive mistake.

TIA

I believe it belonged to that child molester who is hopefully rotting in jail for the rest of his life.

Ah, right. That’s that then.

Thanks, Brian.

According to Lexis/Nexis, that case has yet to come to trial

Some interesting things in lexis/nexis

Terry,

I have that particular flat car and a little battery powered locomotive sitting in my garage waiting for someone to buy it. The formentioned individual left his collect of trains to our club with the intention of everything being sold and the proceeds going to the club for the promotion of our great hobby. Some items where to be sold with the preceeds going to him. Most of everything is already gone except some LGB Europian stuff.

The items listed above being some of the later. However this individual seems to think those 2 items are worth $3000.00. So far no takers, so it sits in my garage collecting dust.

I would be willing to take some pictures this weekend and send them to you. I have never posted any photos on this site and don’t know what it takes. I might be able to get John Bouck to post them, I’ll have to ask him.

I plan on making a set of drawings off the flat car so that I can make one for my grandkids.

Yo Chuck - I would take it as a great kindness if you could apply your camera to the car and acquire some good shots including a scale bar that I can use to size it up. I am particularly interested in the underside to see how the bolsters are arranged.

TAC,
I’ll send yuh the whole car, piece by piece.

It came as a kit, but I can’t remember where he got it.
There’s a link somewhere in the Archives of LSC.

I find it hard to believe someone with grandkids would help a convicted pedophile and accused member of a kiddie porn ring sell these items and that your club would accept donations from such an individual. I know I can speak for my club in this matter that we would never accept such a donation. Frankly, I’m feel like tossing my dinner right now.

Thanks, John.

Sadly, shipping to here makes it a no-no…

-Brian…

Brian,
That’s your problem, right.
Cash to a club with about a hundred dollars in its kitty is cash, no matter what the source.
And I know your club would accept it in a heart beat, so get off your pulpit!

Brian,

It’s all about morals and ethics, very flexible matters (depending on the personality type and experience!). :frowning:

Cut Chuck some slack. He was kind enough to offer tac some photos and honest enough to mention the source.
Making the best out of an unpleasant situation. The items would be sold regardless. It is better some good comes out of it.
