White Christmas

Well even after all the frezingrain and rain yesterday we managed to hold on to our snow cover. Still over 6+ inches. Now the tracks are cleared. It was nice running trains today. Merry Christmas everyone ann hope everyone had a great x-mas

Merry Christmas, Shawn.
Nice to see you have the Kittatinny Mountain RR operational.
I’m running trains today too. Sixty degrees and sunny.
Lovin every minute.

Great pictures Shawn!

We had good weather here today too, but I only had a few hours to play. I managed to get the rest of the line plowed open before guests arrived for dinner. A live steam demo for the guests didn’t go as well as planned. It seems that trying to run a 1:20 train over a line that was just plowed with 1:29 equipment doesn’t work so well. The 1:20 cars wouldn’t fit through the trench and snow build-up around the butane tank on tye engine almost caused a loss of fire. An abbreviated run over track that was melted wide didn’t go to well either with wet/oily wheels trying to pull up grade. So we decied to head back to the shops, blow it down and drink some beer instead

Shawn great pics!
Did you get to use Big John with the plow?
When I did get to try to plow in the beginning of the stoorm it was to dark for pics.
The plow worked great but to much fell overnight “to heavy”.
We had over a foot on the railroad so I had to shovel!
But as you can see Charlie Brown came to the rescue!!

I tried to use the big john with the plow but by the time I got home from work there was too much snow for the train to move the plow, plus the tracks were icy from the falling snow. I ended up pushing the plow around with my hand.
