Whistle for my Aristo Live Steam Mikado

Not a lot of live steamers on LSC, but thought you guys might like to see this video. I tuned my Mikes whistle some, still a bit of tweaking, but is sounding better. It is made per Larry Banghams articles he wrote for Steam in the Garden. Many use his ideas. Mike Ergoff made the apertures for me. No, I’m not making them to sell! See Bob Weltyk for those! Ray made me a circuit board that fits in the Mikes tender, when I push ‘whistle’ on the Tx, it triggers a servo from the tender and it actuates the servo in the cab to move the whistle valve-bit crowded in the cab!

Not bad Jerry  I spoke with Bob Weltyk about putting a whistle on my 2 Cyl. Shay. I love the sound of his whistles, but my wallet can’t support it.

Someday…

Jon,
You can get the parts from Mike and make your own. http://www.eastbranchtrains.com/bw-parts-fs01.html
David Bailey(DJB engineering) uses the same ideas of Larry’s and his are pretty reasonable, especially with the dollar being stronger right now. Jerry

Thanks Jerry. I guess I need to find copies of the SitG articles so I can get a better understanding of all the parts. It looks like Mike has a complete kit for the Shay, just trying to locate an alternate pressure relieve in order to release it.

Just write to Ron Brown, he sells copies of back issues, has a sale on them right now, as I recall. Here’s his email: [email protected] Nice guy to deal with.
