Large Scale Central

While at Banff there was a little extra

… action on the CPR. The first Westbound train coming through after the arrival of the Empress sported a little fire in one of the traction motors on the pusher engine.

Didn’t shoot enough video but here’s what I got (as my equal half tells me “you’re not a reporter”).

CPR at Banff - fire on the pusher unit of a GrainTrain

Nice video. Beautiful part of your country there with snow capped mountains in both directions.

Another enjoyable clip HJ.

By the way (I don’t usually contradict women but at this distance I reckon I am safe lol) I think you were a reporter on this occasion. Maybe not with the pre-arranged steamer but the fire was one of those unpredictable occasions.

Jon - I read once that 99.9999999999999% of all the pointy-topped places you can see in ANY of H-J's movies has never had a human foot on it, nor ever will. A few years ago in National Geographic there was a photo of a climber who actually had his arms wrapped around the very pinnacle of the mountain that he had just climbed - it really DID come to a point, so he couldn't stand there.

Last time we drove across Canada we made a short 50-60 mile or so detour down 95 outside Golden, just so we could see the mountains on each side of the road surrounding us as we drove along…it was so beautiful it would make you cry.
