Where's Tiny?

I was just looking at the Freight Sheds area and saw a listing for NVTiny in the departed friends section. Where’s Tiny? Did I miss something?

Jon.

Oh, John. Tiny passed on in 2005. Very unexpectedly. Complications from diabetes. He was a good friend, and is very missed by many of us.

Damn. You know, after I got laid off I pretty much lost touch with everyone for a while. I think the last time I talked to Tiny was before that. So some time before October’ish of 2004. Damn.

Jon.

He’s also missed by those that never knew him personally. I visited his website several times when first getting into the hobby and have read much of his contributions here and on other forums. I’m just sorry I never got a chance to meet the man in person.

He does live on through postings, articles & videos on this site.

Jon

I only knew Tiny on the message boards and via chit chat in e-mail. He was a good guy and I enjoyed talking with him. I don’t know why but I’ve been thinking about him since I started this thread last night. It’s kinda bugging me I guess…

Jon.

Tiny and I met CJ and Rick Blanchard out in Santa Fe for lunch one day, and the next day we rode the Cumbres and Toltec. Here’s a great shot of him next to our locomotive, while we were stopped at Osier for lunch. The locomotive is huge. So was Tiny.

Cool picture. Thanks Bob.

Jon.

Tiny is missed by all who met him and most of those who have never met him. First time I met him in person was the Cincy conv. He didn’t even have to introduce himself, I knew exactly who he was. When I first heard about his passing on, I was driving home from GA. Bummed me out big time…

Tiny was very proud that he had a feature role in one of my stories. http://www.trainweb.org/toenailridge/chap13.html H reckoned it captured him to a ‘T’.
Vale, Tiny, you were a good mate.

Phil,

It wasn’t since the days of Jersey George’s figures taking “City of New Orleans” midnight rides on his website that I’ve happened to read any of your Selbyville vingettes…

Suffice it to say I hope someday to be as entertaining.

This bit in particular: " The main street of Selbyville had a number of necessary businesses along its length. Mr. Butcher ran the produce shop, next door to Mr. Baker the butcher. Over the road was George Farrier the clothier and Steven Tailor the blacksmith" …

Fantastic!

Matthew,

That almost sounds like who is running heaven and who is running hell in which mixed up assignments.
