The big white dots are snow flakes, I think. Or maybe hundreds of tiny UFO’s! Oh, yeh, the resident Killdeer’s are back in my north pasture. A sure sign of spring. jb

Err…shouldnt that caption be: BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
My yard looks the same. I imagine out where Steve F. is he’s burrrrrrried. Yesterday’s snow was gone by 1pm. I suspect this won’t be on the ground for very long. Unfortunately it’s still coming down here…

.. Unfortunately it's still coming down here...:( :( :(
My dog went out this AM as is her habit. She usually stays out in the yard for hours, watching the birds. This morning she was back in after 3 minutes, and her usually black hair was all white.
What caused that?
What caused that?
Prolly a bad case of dandruff, or she got into a flour sack. I dunno.
Snow all gone now…
Gentlemen,
But what a delight up on the mountain, nice fresh snow, nicely prepped tracks (Yes Sir, they are NG), very nice weather and most people in a good mood.
We just ignore the old cranks who always have one thing or the other to complain about. Nah, we don’t expect people will listen to us when the time comes, either!
Best comment from a Grade 4 kid today “Wow, we sure learned more in this hour than the previous three!” This from a kid who was in the “Leisure Group” (their moniker, not mine!).
I guess if one gets to go up and down a hill three times and learns something new on each trip that is quite possible.
Warren Mumpower said:I hate you ;) We are waiting for what the forecasters are cheerfully predicting will be the worst dump of the season so far. Mind you, that isn't as bad as it might be, seeing as how we haven't had a truly major dump this winter. Our worst dumps often seem to come in March, anyway. Old Man Winter telling that flighty damsel Spring that she ain't gonna waltz in quite yet. The latest Unwetter seems to be coming up from south of the border ...
Snow all gone now....:)
Chris, don’t feel so bad. It’s snowing here again! It’s all HJ’s fault. Slat sliders…Hummmmp!!

On this one I have very wide shoulders, yep it’s all my fault!

What’s a street plow?? Around here it’s “on your own” when it comes to cleared streets… They say they can’t plow in the day time because traffic is too heavy and they say it’s too dangerous for the crews to work at night.
Warren Mumpower said:Every plow and salt spreader in Ottawa is on duty tonight, waiting for the American weather invasion. And they work every hour of the 24. Traffic getting in the way of a plow ain't gonna get much sympathy from the judge. Local TV news interviewed one driver. He said he was looking forward to the storm -- hasn't had enough real work this winter. Our street will probably get plowed Saturday or Sunday; the crews will be busy keeping the main roads and bus routes clear tomorrow. Ottawa is lucky enough to be in a "storm shadow". Prevailing winds carry the snow from lakes Erie and Ontario south of us ("South of the border, down Mexico* way"), and we're 300 miles east of Huron, so snow from the upper lakes generally hits the ground long before it gets here. Of course, every so often Momma Nature reminds us who's in charge ... (and it ain't HJ, however broad his shoulders). (*That's Mexico, N.Y.)

There hasn’t been a plow down my street for two or three years, and there’s an elementary school down the street. They just let the school busses flatten in out.
My street is on the school bus run, so it gets plowed out first. Of course, that leaves a huge flop of snow in my drive way as the snowplow goes by at warp speed.
So, I get out my large, petro diesel 4X4 pickup and flatten out what is deposited.
I used to put a blade on my garden tractor and plow out the driveway, but then thought, why bother? That is what the 4X4 is for.
All you guys have to do is make a right turn and head south . We’ve not hardly a skiff of white this year
bring your trains and come on down To NC very seldom snows except in Mts

I remember being on business in Ottawa and one would have to gingerly edge into the intersections, the mountains of snow left and right of the streets blocked the view pretty well.
I’m glad I’m not in charge of the weather … but I sure like the snow!
I came back to Ottawa on the train last evening (March 2nd).
I was on the first passenger train through the train wreck at Pickering. We were over an hour late, so we get a “Late credit” on the next ticket purchase within 6 months.
While in Toronto I watched the storm from the wide widows in a bar, near the harbour.
I expected a real dump here in Ottawa but was pleasantly surprised that there was little need to do more than a light clearing of the walk. The rest will melt in time.
It was surprising how fast the CN contrctors, had cleared away the wreck…mostly intermodal; only several containers were left…one was full of new motor bicycles…GREAT…a few less NOISE MACHINES on the road…It only took them less than 24 hours to clear about 30 cars, and relay two tracks.
