Whatthehell happened to TrainWorld?

I just had to call in an order for some repair parts.

I’ve dealt with these folks for decades (when it was still called Peter Bianco’s TrainWorld)…

You get used to the waterfront New York abrasiveness.

Some yay-who sent them a case of “nice” pills.

Geez. It’s almost like dealing with the rest of the country now!

Dave,

Not to worry. I’m sure it was just an isolated incident, not a reflection of TW’s general policy.

I used to be a regular buyer at TW. Most of my neighbors are NYC transplants so the gruff manner and hurry up attitude is pretty easy for me to deal with. In fact, I’ve never thought they were particularly rude at all. I always knew what I wanted to order, had my credit card ready and took notes not asking them to repeat anything. Damn efficient I thought.

Lately though Ridge Road has been clobbering them on price for what I’ve been buying.

Life is rough for curmudgons!

Must have had a bad batch of stogies… The Cuban clones are noted for that. (grin)

In the long ago past I bought something from TW and had no problems but they sure do want to end the conversation just as soon as they can. Well time is money so they can not be on the line too long.

Ridge Road Station likes to make you happy and will not push you off until you are ready. Hey they have the best prices toooo…

Cheers,

Dave, maybe you should ask these new “nice” people what the weathers like in New Dehli?

Yeah.
Except they were actually helpful and knowledgeable.

I had to ask once if it really was TrainWorld…

Now we all know what is memorable.

My guess is business is slow.

My second guess is business is diminishing.

My third guess is TrainWorld has found out one of the main customer decison points: Attitude.

My last guess is the above are inaccurate and the experience was a fluke.

What? They are nice on the phone now??? I’ll have to call them. I just don’t believe it!

Seriously, it’s just the New Yorker thing. They have always given me great service. Especially at the East Coast Show a few years ago. They were so nice I bought more stuff than we could pack in the car for the trip home!

Jon.

I had Dave’s phone number programmed into my phone so I could answer, “Whdda ya want!” if he ever called my shop

Sorry to check in so late on this subject, but I finally realized what happened on your call:
You dialed the wrong number!

Having figured that out, I’m going out to push some ballast cars around with the Shay.

Max temp here in the Mendocino redwoods was ~102 today, but it’s down to ~80 right now (6:00pm). Prediction is for 111 tomorrow. Just reading that makes me kind of melt!

Sure is quiet here on LSC when most everyone else is in Canada running trains. I sure hope the reports begin soon.

Hi Tom, Obviously I was too dense (could be “past dense”) to notice the “Past tense”. :frowning: :frowning:
