What's with the extra space in posts?

Hi Bob,

Two peculiarities

a) why is there so much empty space between the last line of a post and the sign-off line? To get rid of that one has to hit “Delete” repeatedly.

b) When using the “Quote” function there is always a white box (belongs to the quote portion) after the reply. To get rid of it … repeat “Delete” a few times.

Most people do… looks like some goofy formatting, like html.

The code shows something between paragraphs that I don’t recognize. Maybe it is coding for a carriage return?

Paul - do you mean the < br > ? That is a line break; which starts a new line without a blank line (single space). The Paragraph tags, < p > and < /p > get inserted with every carriage return (Enter) when editing a post and result in double spacing.

This is different than HJ’s question. He is asking about extra blank lines before the signature. I hadn’t really noticed that.

EDIT: I can’t actually show the actual tags as they get interpreted and screw up the post.

Without the brackets!!

It was the [ ] without brackets that I was referring to. They are 11 of them just above your Cheers HJ.

I’ve made a config change to the fancy editor, which may change this.

I’ve also removed a bunch of extra space between the line and the signature.
