Large Scale Central

Whatchyall think?

I have a NIB Bachmann 45 Tonner, that prob won’t ever make it to the tracks…seems I am reverting to my orig. plan of “small” engines…It really don’t help that I am also really loving my new “Mack” with plans to aquire more.

(BTW-all of Vic’s inspiration don’t help either)

I want to model NG Steam/early diesel. I have a very! LTD budget so…would I be crazy to try to sell my GE (SantaFE) or swap it for a couple of Macks?

I have one GE wired for Batt/RCS via a trail car, so I may keep it, but the size (I understand it is to scale) of the thing is killing me…so, go ahead my train brethren…enlighten me.

thanks
cale

They sold so cheap I don’t know if you can do better than to put it in your scrape box and use the side rod trucks and assorted parts for good buggy power. Trucks with side rods can be used for lots of things.

I built the two Whadahellizit’s converting Mack’s into steam trams, it’s been a real blast doing so. I’m really happy with the way #2 is coming along so much I might rebuilt parts of #1 as well. The saddletank really sets it off for me!

Dare I say it, but if you consider reworking the 45tonners sideframes (or making new scratchbuilt), those siderod bricks might be converted to look very much like Climax or Heisler trucks, add some plumbing pipe, left over bits and pieces of decrepid Big Haulers and a generous amount of Ozark Miniatures…ya might just make a very nice geared lokie as an end result…

I have 3 spare blocks on the table now…I am using 1 to power ‘Toby’…originally bought 4 GE switchers…sold two bodies and kept trucks…guess I need to order some HLW Flatcars…

I don’t think. Gave it up for lent.

here is my Toby-still under construction…

not to be confused with “Torby”

Well, as some know, the SCRY has become kind of the “home for wayward and displaced 45 Tonners” … I have four operable ones and one that isn’t … so … I’m not sure what I’d do with a fifth!

However, if you want to trade it for a Bachmann Saddletanker that hasn’t run much, I’d do it.

very interesting concept…please check your email! cale Here is a buddy of mine in 1948 with the Engineer and a Saddletank Switcher…

and the engine

do those cars look like something Bachmann makes or what?-I have a set of those…this might just work out! One more with the steam shovel

Bill says he remembers the day…Barefeet and hot rocks…wow!

Torby's the one without wheels and isn't a really useful engine, right? One of these days I must get around to putting a roof on my Toby.

And Torby is still under construction too…
