Large Scale Central

What scale is the 'new' bachmann 2-4-2

Is it their large scale or 1:20?

thanks,
Terry

the few that I’ve seen look like Big Hauler Large Scale…I want one BTW…

The 2-4-2 tank loco is basicly made from the original moulds, with some needed improvements, so it’s still supposedly 1:22.5 scale.

I sussed this out some time ago.
It is essentially 1:22.5, the same as the old model but shorter than the L&B prototype.
There was a little Bachmann BS prior to release by the way of pre production photos taken on an angle next to the old one which had everyone believe it was 1:20.3 compared to the old model. The original was sold as ‘Spectrum’.
The cab is much larger than what it should be for 1:22.5 though, more like 1:20 in overall height and width. Also going by the doorway which was not that high on the prototype. I’m 6’2" and I duck my head on Lyn’s much bigger sister NA class 2-6-2.
If you compare it’s profile to an Accucraft ‘Lyn’ you will notice the main steam dome is taller compared to the cab but on the Bachmann ‘Lyn’ it is not.
The roof sits a little lower than the L&B rolling stock from Accucraft but looks OK as they are all very small prototypes.

Here is a link I was luckily able to find again on the subject. It gives some useful prototype and model dimensions.
