What part of

… as mentioned in another thread. Here’s the sign

Since this site isn’t about dogs, politics, religion, the military or a thousand other things for which there are a gazillion separate sites … it will suit me just fine if the topics are concerning trains (whatever size) and things that are reasonably directly related to trains. Of course that is strictly my opinion.

If I may, here’s a cute sign I printed up for on our fridge a few years back when we rescued Spunky from the pound. Dog Notice if you visit my house 1. The dog lives here. You don’t. 2. If you don’t want dog hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. 3. Yes, he has some disgusting habits. So do I and so do you. What’s your point? 4. OF COURSE he smells like a dog. 5. It’s his nature to try to sniff your crotch. Please feel free to sniff his. 6. I like him a lot better than I like most people. 7. To you he is a dog. To me he is an adopted child who is hairy, walks on all fours and does not speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these things. 8. Dogs are easier than kids. They eat less, don’t ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don’t hang out with drug-using friends, don’t smoke or drink, don’t worry about whether they have the latest fashions, don’t wear your clothes, don’t need a gazillion dollars for college, and - if they get pregnant you can sell the pups. The same applies for the cats, except they will ignore you…until you’re asleep.

HJ, what is your point? Are you trying to start something, again?

Of course he is .
As long as he is on this forum stirring things up , things won’t change .
He used to run his own site . I wonder if he tolerates himself on it ?

Bang , Mike’s dead .

OOOOOPs , not trains

Going to try blackmail again hansy boy ?

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, what a lazy day…

Sigh…

LOOK! If HJ and I can make nice posts between each other, then everyone should be able to.

I have become a babysitter for adults who should know better.

Bob, Put the Off Topic back up. Label a big warning for outsiders. And let the mooks go at it! The military junkies, the political no-it-alls, the religion crazies, all of it.

Or take a rest from this.
Life is too short.
Shut the whole thing down.

No, I don't believe you have or don't have to. Simply ban the offenders. Simple as that. I for one would be saddened by the site being pulled down because of some select few trouble makers. That is only my opinion though. Do what you have to do though Bob.

I have noticed ain increase in activity actually related to model trains since the OT forum was shuttered.

No one needs to be banned, but a modicom of self-control may in order.

Thanks, Rod, that is very useful!

I certainly wouldn’t blame Bob, and would fully understand if the site went dark. It’s sad that people just can’t keep thier gasoline away from the smoldering embers.

I suppose it all must be a cultural thing, as was mentioned in an earlier post. Here in Eastern Pennsylvania, we enjoy some wicked friendly bantering. I did not realize how harsh our type of teasing was, until I went into the service and some of the more laid-back Southern boys called two of us out on our joking.

Maybe it’s just the Northeast Coast of the US, maybe it’s our strong German, Polish, Hungarian, Russian influences in this area.Best friends here tell each other regularly to “go $^@k themselves” and chuckle about it. (…and that’s what we say to people we like.) Whatever it is, I can understand how easily my banter can be taken personally.

I’ll try MY best to behave, as if I am in church and maybe the ultra-sensitive among you can lighten-up a bit.

Would that be fair?

David,

A good start would be to just respect the rules that Bob McCown has posted. That’s all! As far as the colourful language is concerned, welllll I guess it is different strokes for different folks. Somewhere along the line I acquired sufficient English vocabulary to get my message across without the “blue streak” trailings.

I agree Victor.
Long may peace and calm rule.

I second that Tony
