John;

You need to wash them in the COLD water cycle, then that won’t happen.

Just give me ten minutes with one of the Roosters AmTrash engines! :smiley: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: :grinning:

I did this 15 years ago or so.
I chopped the thing to fit on an old Aristo FA frame I had laying around. The motors and side frames are F units as well. Along with the fuel tank.
It really isn’t finished yet. I may repaint it and add some detail parts.

John,
That loco is screaming to be sent to my internet god child of the Pacific so it can be repainted Platinum Mist and rebadged with red white and blue striping which the child has.
Send me the bill for shipping!

No need to ship it. Let your Pacific NW Godfather do it. It can stay right here.
I’ll need to find a couple AmTrash cars to chop up for it as well. And some decals of the afore mentioned Railway. Oh, and another benefit, there will be some more LGB Boxes to smash! :smiley: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: :grinning: :stuck_out_tongue:

Just remember if they’re too long he’ll need wider curves or they’ll be shelf queens :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :sunglasses:

I’m thinking about the length of an LGB wood passenger car…

as i can’t get rid of R1 curves on my indoors layouts, i made some tests.

the longest, what i can run with reliability, are 410mm/16" (measured over the loops) LGB (or newqida) eight-wheelers. - but only, if i replace the bogie-mounted couplers with body-mounted ones.
what runs without alterations around R1 are the 360mm/14" long four or eight wheelers.

the 600mm/24" passenger cars from LGB and newqida “love” to derail at the end of R1 curves.

Since I model in LGB scale 1:22.5 and I don’t use engines, or rolling stock from other scales as they just don’t fit well with my scale. There are a few models from USA Trains that will work, Woodside Reefers, Woodside Box Car, and the Woodside Outside Braced Boxcars, plus some cars from Backmann will work and look right in the 1:22.5 scale. I haven’t re-scaled and other manufactures engines, but I may consider one in the future, I like what the above poster did with the engine. I can tell you it’s easier to take two engines and scale up then one a scale down, but a lot depends on where on the model you are working.

Still think it should be painted platinum mist (aluminum for short) and shipped to the kid. Those FA trucks will do just fine on the Triple O
