Ignorance WAS bliss. 
Thats the stink of it. I guess the bottom line is be ethical, site when you can, and take your chances. I will continue to post stuff but a before I will use discretion.
Its always easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission. 
I mostly try to cite author/artist, and where the info came from, and am ready to take it down if someone complains.
