well, that you all don't get the wrong impressions about us germans by HJ's workshop - here is mine. ........
Hey Korm,

My workshop is more along the Swiss habits than the German ones.

well, if you are swiss, an orderly workingspace is to be expected…

HJ you have a great workspace. I dont have the space you have, yet, but I also like my work area to be orderly.

Thanks Jake,

It’s a nice place to spend time when it’s orderly and one doesn’t have to look for … damn, where did I put that?

I got you beat Korm, this pic is a few years old and still, sadly, tragicly, it looks exactly the same :frowning:

My problem is every time I clean up my work shop, I can’t find anything for about two weeks. That’s how long it takes to make a mess again. Well, here are a couple of pics of the Combine Bash I am working on.The car itself was purchased in a lot from my club considered excess rolling stock. First up is the bottom of the chassis, after removal of the 9V batter box, addition of steel wheels and addition of body mounted couplers. I have decided to go with the large Bachmann couplers as they match well with my K27 and Spectrum Connie (after a simple conversion), and they seem to be more reliable than the smaller delrin ones. The also match well with the AMS narrow gauge couplers.

On top of the chassis I reworked the wiring to add a plug from an R/C store. Not quite as small as the Aristo one, but a bit more substantial. For those who are interested, the connectors are from E-flite. Part number EFLA242 is the JST Male Conn w/Lead, 20 Ga. Part number EFLA243 is the JST Female Conn w/Lead, 20 Ga. The one on the chassis is the female, and the battery assembly has the male.

Moving on to the passenger/baggage compartment (next photo below), I plan to strip the paint from the baggage area so I can add some amenities such as a couple of oil drums, the milk cans (shown) and a small vertical boiler. Once the bases for the extras are in place, the floor will be repainted, most likely darker than the passenger compartment. I will also spray some dull cote on the passenger area to take the ‘shine’ off the seats and floor. I may also do some dry brushing to bring out the grain of the floor. I will be bringing the electrical connector up through the hole originally clearance for the tang on the 9V batter box into the baggage compartment. In the second photo are the ring that will be cemented to the floor over the incoming wiring, the battery ‘assembly’, and the small vertical boiler that will hide the battery assembly. The boiler will be painted flat black. I will be using the original switch provided by Bachmann for the lights.

More stuff to follow as I get through this phase. I am still experimenting with mounting for the LEDs. Have not quite gotten the best arrangement there. I will also have to modify the trucks a bit. It seems that the 31mm steel wheels will not quite fit inside the brake shoes of the passenger truck where plastic wheels had once been. TTFN  Bob C.
