Someone put the Curmudgeon on a leash? HJ must truly be a master of dark arts.
Chris,

That’s me! I also have an In-House consultant named “Machiavelli”. Smart cat he is!

TOC sent me mail addressed “Attn. Bunkermeister”! Absolutely pricelessly funny - if you have that black kind of humour. I haven’t tested the postman’s command of German, but since he’s also good for a laugh I’m sure he’d get it.

Hmmmm, The Lehmann Toytrain line met my garden RRing needs in almost every respect, so I bought it. I also hope they emerge from this crisis and make even MORE toys! Does that make me a Shill? Rabid? or an Apologist?

BTW, Lehmann put it all right there in the name “TOYtrain”. No matter how true to scale it may look or how you may operate it when you play, that’s all ANY of them really are.

I don’t get it. I re-read the original post. It’s a pure translation with no opinion express.

So someone gets on and blasts the person who did us a service with the translation for posting about stuff he does not want to buy. So what?

I thank those to add to my knowledge. I buy very little LGB, but I’m still interested on how things will turn out. I don’t think anyone wants LGB to fail, it will hurt the industry.

Do a lot of people want LGB to do things differently? You betcha. Would I like to have more things available that would fit my use? Sure.

So, I am interested in following this. Lay off or at least contribute. You want to sling mud, go outside, dig a hole, fill it with water and have at it.

But it seems as if someone has nothing else to do but look for postings by an individual and find something nasty to say.

If you can translate better, or have found an error, then, speak up for sure. But attacking someone for the attack’s sake just lowers your credibility. People will be less likely to listen to you, so if you are looking for support you are going about it wrong.

OK, off soapbox, back to the superbowl!

Regards, Greg

Would you happen to know how any of this relates to the translated interview??

Wouldn’t be a case of Tony W being right on with this comment:

Next up the naysayers will be blaming your translation as their latest way of denying the truth.
I have never worried what you or the next guy buy from any of the LS suppliers. But I find it very interesting that there's no comment on Schöntag's statement regarding Wolfgang Richter. Hmmm looks like Wolfgang didn't get fired, looks like someone's source was not all that reliable!! Could it be that the "poor Wolfgang" campaign was supposed to trigger a compassionate buying spree? Who knows, who cares!
Oh it is reliable....at interviews not everything is as said...reality will triumph.

I don’t know.
At this post you seem a reasonable sort.
Maybe, JUST maybe, you’d best go read up on this and come back later.

A hint is folks who jump in screaming the rabid proclamations (ohgawd, something just clicked, and I’d best not) who have nothing to contribute to the discussions and seem hell-bent upon doing everything in their power to cast doubt upon those with some bit of “fact” (and, yes, the interview did happen).

The interview did happen…but the words said may not be accurate…watch the big news services for more of these type of interviews.

And I tend to jump in when three try to gang up on one when his viewpoint differs from their’s.

Mik,

Great that you’re happy with whatever you bought!

A while back I posted a picture of all the empty LGB boxes I have nicely stored at the shop.

If you go to http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=6992 you can look at the latest LGB additions to my roster. It also mentions what will happen with the “raw material”.

As far as how LGB sees their products read this here: http://www.lgb.de/pdf/qualitye.pdf

There are probably a few things in there which you haven’t read, yet i.e.

Compare LGB to other trains…

We research real trains.
LGB trains are real replicas of real trains. We don’t just work from pictures or copy
other models. Our experts travel around the world to research the world’s great trains,
capture their finest details and record their actual sounds.[b] So you get a real model
railroad … not just a toy.

I added the bold and italics for clarity.

Happy PDF reading!

Marvin,

Nowhere in the pre-amble or the title did I mention the veracity of what had been said, I just translated what was on the Newsfeed as an interview. But since you can go and look up the interview you can also check if I translated correctly.
That’s a big difference to a “reliable source” which can’t be mentioned. Sometimes I get a feeling that some people watch too many spy movies or read too many spy stories.

Greg is right on the mark with his comments!

HJ

The Lehmann Toy Trains help get new people into the hobby with afforable items. And new blood is badly needed in this hobby. They also provide trains to those that can not afford the $1K Locos. So there is a valid purpose for them.

Now if I was a new visitor to this site and have a desire to learn about Biggie Size Trains and this was the first thread that I encountered & read, I might decide otherwise on the train hobby.

I recommend to Bob to end this thread as it is damaging to our hobby and his site.

If you check the thread I’m not answering your post.

I’m not saying your translation is inaccurate, in fact I compared it with the German text and it look fine.

If you name the “reliable sources”, they tend to shy away from commenting or talking with you again.

I lived that life and believe me the books & movies are a lot better than the real thing…much better!

Has paranoia set in with you?

Nah, not yet.

Just making sure there are no “misunderstandings”.   Ducks in a row and all that good stuff!

And, maybe Marvin hit one nail squarely on the head.
I tend to jump in when others gang up on one.

We’ve had 3 on this thread at least ganging up on one.
The odds are a little more even now.

Funny thing, I have yet to see anyone anywhere say they wanted a company to go away.

And, did I see anybody denigrate “Lehmann Toy Trains”?

Must have slipped past me…

I wonder how vocal they will be when they finally realise they were set up to find “leaks”?

Sheesh… I just caught up with this thread, WOW!

I like the suggestion that someone put TOC on a leash, yeah, he’ll be easy to spot, just look for the guy with shreaded pants legs and bite marks LOL!

All this will about where LGB will be going to me will be revealed when we get the A; the price list of the new 2007 Euro made items, and B; the LGBofA list of item for 2007 and those prices, then we’ll see whether LGB is trying to be more competative with Bachmann or Aristo products.

Persoanlly I’m hoping for a Uintah Mallet near the $350 to 400 price range, with the 5% grades I’m planning, I just might have a real good justification for getting one!!!

I expect the next point of conjecture will be: Is the re-run Uintah Mallet going to have DCC and/or sound fitted or not, and if so which brand?

Tony,

What are the chances that they’ll realise that?? Slim or slimmer??

Tony,

One day we won’t have any wants, because all the stuff “arrived already”.
