What board for animal sound effects?

I have a LGB stock car with the sounds of horses and I would like to add the sound of cows to another car and maybe sheep to another to make up a really noisy train.

I know that there are different companies that make these sound boards but which should I invest in?

I plan to run track power with a battery backup.

What are your experiences with these sound cards.

There is at least the sound module and various sound files available from ITT Products though I’ve no experience with them.

I have a couple ITT boards for different sounds as well as a QSI Soundbloxx.

You can hear the ITT sounds here and judge for yourself:

Soundtraxx Sound Car decoder has sheep and cattle sounds. It also has tons of train sounds.

I don’t have one, but I have seen the ads and info on their web site.

I like the sounds from the ITT site but in the fine print there might be a concern about track powering their boards.

There was another company that produced boards for animal sounds but I can’t remember the name?

Maybe something from this search will fit your need - model railroad sound modules

Todd - if you aren’t opposed to doing your own there is a very nice board that can be had for less than $10 that allows you to add your own MP3 files to a microSD card that fits into the board. I have used dozens of them for a host of projects - you only need some sort of power supply (can be batteries), an 8 ohm speaker and an SD card.

Audio files can be download from a bunch of sites on the Internet and the board contains an amplifier that may provide all the volume you need.
