What a day on the Mountain Sub

Good weather - while the Okanagan got a few severe thunderstorms - with plenty of trains but not enough time to ask the trains crews all the questions that are pending. BTW yesterday was the day for a rolling meet on the hill in the Kicking Horse canyon.
That and the absolutely glorious scenery really made my day! Videos to follow!

PS CP Rail Mountain Sub = Field BC (Mile 0) to Revelstoke, BC (Mile 125.7), part of Kicking Horse Pass and all of Rogers Pass.

Here goes Part 1 of the CP Rail Mountain Sub series. An empty coal unit train returning over Rogers Pass headed for Cranbrook, BC. Four units up front and a DPU in midtrain. Filmed between Albert Canyon and Glacier, BC (Mile 105.8 to 85.5).

HJ,
Have you considered doing some BC Rail?
Up around Seaton or Williams lake would be fantastic.
You and the Missus could stay over in Revelstoke.

I enjoy your videos with my Bose headphones on…Thanks!

Yes, the former BC Rail line is on the "to do" sheet, tentatively scheduled together with the Rocky Mountaineer "Vancouver to Whistler" and "Whistler to Jasper" treck. Since it's single track from Van to Prince George and the RM overnights in Quesnel, that should be another very long three or four day trip with quite a few meets. Planning on filming some of the CN coal traffic out of the Edson, AB region at the same time.

Sure would have been nice to have better weather during June, but hey, what can you do.

Got a “smarten up” reminder on Saturday, forgot to charge the scanner battery and she ran out two hours too soon. Got a car adaptor today, won’t happen again.

I watch 'em on Vimeo with my Roku player connected to the surround sound - Awesome audio :D The scenery is great too.

Thank you Gentlemen!

CP Rail Mountain Sub Part 2 starts with the crew change at Field and then follows the train - hotshot with autoracks and intermodal - down the hill ending in Golden. And yes, part of this is the “rolling meet” at Glenogle in the Kicking Horse Canyon.
