Wharf details at Williamsport

Another project at Williamsport is the whole car ferry/lift bridge/wharf piece. While waiting for some switches from Rodney, I’m working out some of the details. Here’s one of them. A bollard, for ships to tie off to. They were cast iron, weighed several tons, and were anchored to bedrock when possible.

I need to cast up about 15 of these.

Casting continues…

Quick and easy. Are they in place yet.

Yea, they’re right there in place on my workbench.

Nice bollards.

I'll bet you say that to all the boys.

Cool, for smaller bollards consider simple plastic push pins, have seen these used to good effect in O and G

Not too bad. Need to paint them black, and give them a bit of weathering and all that, but a good start.

Neat! Where’s the boat?

Will the diesel clear those, Bob? I’m betting if it does it’s really close…

Wont have to along that bit of track. Its marked as “close access” because of the loading dock, so you’ll need to use an idler car or something to get a car at the end of track. Same as under the colliery. Its too low for a locomotive.

Gonna be something like this. 3 cars long.

Alright then  Will you be building a pond for the float?

Had a bit of “no rain” today (still drizzly) so I got the first wharf bit outta the shop and in-place.

Bob that looks good there. The transfer house is huge. I like the set up but where is the car ferry track ?
