Looking good Sean. What state are you in? You’ve got more than me in CT, but I still need to do a plow run today. The shop crew spent the day yesterday re-wiring the plow extra for improved battery MU operation with the ability to add a third and 4th engine if needed. Crew is getting beans at the moment and will pull the train outside to chill soon.
EDIT: Just looked at your profile, see you are in MA. Couldn’t find a S. Easton, but found Easton not far from Brockton and Bridgewater. Is that the place?
Charlie Brown’s probably where any sane person with a bit of common sense would be…inside the house with a roaring fire in the fireplace, his feet up and a nice hot cup of coffee in his hands…
Jon your right. Just down the street from Dan Pierce. Charlie did come back. The crew went out to finish up!!

Great pictures Sean keep up the good work.
Sean, Your wings look like they worked GREAT!!!
David Russell said:I was thinking the same thing. I have an extra plow blade and could use a second plow. Maybe it's time to consider bashing up a second plow with wings to put on the rear of the plow train for plowing my Wye.

I did get the plow train out today but didn’t take any pics. I did take lots of the Live Stem run later in the day. See the Live Steam forum for those.
“The world needs you, Charlie Brown!”
I keep looking at this thread…that is soooo cool Sean!
Thanks!
Wow, I wondered who bought all those working snow plows to use outside…I’m thinking that I need a cup of hot cocoa just to be looking at those snow pictures. Let me get this straight, somebody actually delivers you that snow? Thats nifty! Where I live I have to pile the kids in the car and drive for hours and wait in line just to see muddy dirty snow =D.
Seriously, that looks like a lot of fun, and pretty darned realistic too; I have seen pics of real trains in trenchs of snow just like that. Being a CA native, the first time I ever had a snow/train holiday was when I spent new years with my buddy Jay up in Chama NM, riding the D&S the week before.
Does it count if my mom kept my hair so short I used to be called Charlie Brown when I was a kid?
More snow is comming!!! Go get them!!!

Charlie Brown wants to use the Rotary snow blower! I’m still working on the kinks!! We’ll see!! P.S. John great Avitar!
“P.S. John great Avitar!”
I don’t get it??? No offense, but what is so great about his “mask”. Not much of a clue as to what it means. Something from a carnival? I guess I’m showing my age.
It’s DIFFERENT!

It's DIFFERENT!
Sean McGillicuddy said:Thanks Sean, I wanted something that was, as you say, different. Funny thing, Mr. Golding using the word carnival, as his descriptor of my avatar; that happened to be my favorite TV show of all time (CARNIVALE). It's no stretch that I chose the evil clown image to use, we all have our masks that we use at certain times. I just wanted something that would convey an image that would go along with my tongue in cheek comment about details. That, and I am a natural born smart adze...you should see the reply I did not post.
P.S. John great Avitar!
Lately, I have been doing more work with brushes than knives…here is a link to a flat I messed around with a few days back.

Nice paint job John. That’s pretty close to the look I’m trying to achieve with real wood, paints, ink and alcohol. At this point I think I would be better off drinking the alcohol. Then at least I would think my deck looks good :o

My friend, thanks for the kind words, don’t give up too quick; however I do find that Stoli and grapefruit juice, used judiciously, can have a positive effect on my weathering techniques. I found that the weathering powders and washes from A.I.M. Products or elsewhwere can render some nifty effects when used around textures, like the deck of the Bachmann flats, or on wood you have added grain to.

Doing wood was easier, but perhaps slower and more tedious. Start with wood already cut for your deck; I like to try and get the greatest variety of basswood (grain and color wise) that I can find to start with. Then I have more than one wash. They all go into the standard india ink and alcohol mix (vary the soak times), but then I try and find some other colors; coffee being one. I have used dyes and tinting powders like the AIM Products to make washes that have some nice effects. I always distress the wood first with a razor saws teeth, this helps make some grain to add layers of color to. Don’t be afraid to even damage where the slats butt together, most decks have a lot of damage after facing loading and the elements. My cars deck is too nice in this respect, but I am limited by time and materials. Below in another view of the plastic deck… remember to vary your earthtones with grays to give your wood more color range; damaging the wood is half the battle.

You drink the Stoli & Grapefruit, or soak the wood in it ? Perhaps both !
