Loosely based on Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes #551, started life as an undec Bachmann combine kit. An endwall from a baggage car was also required. Interior basically follows the original (not the Edaville version). The unsuitable (too high) cuploa is from an old MDC caboose kit. Trussrods made by cutting the queenposts and turnbuckles from the Bachmann moulding. A 1.5mm hole was then drilled through each part and piano wire inserted.
It’s a cabbagboose!
Looking good. I love the Maine stuff.
Shawn, this is my version of SR&RL #553, made last year but as yet unpainted. Also made from B’mann undec kits.

Uhm, really wish you guys would not have posted these…I really like this style of “Drovers” caboose and may need to think about one for the “L&I”.
Nice looking 'booses!
Very nice!
Neato! I love the lines on that caboose.
Side-door cabooses (cabeese?). That’s for me. Nice going!
That is one big caboose
Two further cars that I am progressing are Southern Pacific #401, both pre- and post-1952. While it looks like a basic combine body, I joined half a coach and half a baggage car to build both cars (no combine bodies were injured in the making of these cars). The car has five windows on one side and six the other. For simplicity, I built to the standard length of a Bachmann car body. Some artisitic licence was taken with the end ladders on the clerestory (pre-1952) version due ladders onhand were too short. I am awaiting side curved grabrails and roof catwalk mouldings to complete both cars. Interiors are based on original photograph locations of smokestacks and toilet vents to guess an approximation. On the post-1952 version I have slightly modified the MDC archbar trucks to represent the Thiery trucks fitted to the original. Both cars are only meant to give the impression of the espee cars and not intended to be accurate models.

Great job Tim, both cars are really well done.
