Large Scale Central

Website Review... please?

I’ve been working on rebuilding my Freedom Central Website. The last major overhaul was using HTML 3.2, which used tables for formatting and all that other bad stuff that HTML 4.0 and CSS were designed to eliminate.

I’ve got several pages done, but have them locked away in my development service. However, I created a new index page that uses the new CSS formatting and site navigation design format… although all navigation parts have been removed for the time being.

If anyone has a few minutes to spare, would you be so kind as to take a look and tell me what you think?

I am using the site design that I am for a specific reason, which will be explained once the site goes online (I have a page which explains the entire thing).

Thanks for your time.

EDIT: Course, it helps to give the site link: http://www.fccorp.us

First page looks fine, but thats all we can see. We cant do any navigation to other pages.

The front page looks good.

Thanks guys. That’s all I wanted to show off at this point.

Renders fine at 1920x1200 in Firefox.

Though I’m not sure if I’m a fan of the design at this resolution…

And here I was worried about the fact that I was testing at 1600x900 resolution, lol

Honestly, I’ve never found a system that looks great (to me) regardless of what resolution used. At some point there is always a resolution that makes a site look bad.

The only exception is something like Bob’s site here, but even then if the resolution gets too large, the center strip can get lost in all the sea of screen… unless Bob has a variable width based on a constant percentage of the screen.

Looks good @ 1440x900 on a MacBook Pro with Safari.

Looks good to me.

Looks good in 1600x900 in Windows 7 on Chrome

Hmm… since are trading configurations, looks good at 1920 x 1200 on windows 8 and i7 processor on carbon fiber sony vaio… ( ha!)

also fine on microsoft surface pro with i5 and windows 8.

Also fine on 1920 x 1080 on several other machines on win 7 and xp.

Seems to render fine… although I had to hunt around for lower resolution screens at home.

yes? there was a question?

Seems fine in Firefox.

I just redid http://www.midwestrails.org myself. It’s asp.net and uses a master page.

Well, I’m impressed that I’ve managed to pull off my site’s design this far and have only used one table so far… and that’s to setup the listing of all the drawings I’ve done over the years. First is the “Freedom Class” based on the LGB Stainz, second is… well, I need to get that done first, lol.

Thanks again everyone for your reviews.
