Large Scale Central

Web Hosting

I know a number of folks have their own web site, as I do, and am wondering who does you hosting? I have been using Godaddy for years, but changes is their hosting has me looking for another hosting platform. I would be interested in what other folks are using.

Thanks for sharing.

Bob,
Me too. Never got into any of the name brands. I ended up finding these folks (Veerotech) and have stuck with them over the years.

It is $64.72 per year. I have NO idea if they are cheaper than anyone else, but I like the service and they respond quickly when I ask a question! Even before I signed up they answered all of my questions.

My web site is jbrr.com…

the last dozen of years i’m with domaindiscount24.com: Buy Domains - Secure your Domain Name
originally a german company, that some years ago went abroad with hosting in great britain and somewhere else too. i took the Britain hosting and am content with their service.

(30 GB ca 60$/year - 100 GB ca. 120$/year)

that’s much cheaper than in south america.

I originally signed on with 1 and 1 (a German company) over 20 years ago. They changed names to IONOS. I have an unlimited traffic plan with several domains and unlimited email addresses for about $20/month. I want to downgrade it to save a little and the cheaper plans only have one email address, so I need to consolidate my 6!

I’ve rarely needed support, but when I did, they were great.

Strange limit of SIX email…doesn’t make much sense to me. I have 2 that I currently used. I have never run into any limit…

But wait, there’s more?

I occasionally come across a page where a member has provided a link to their web page, but didn’t realise there are quite a lot of you folks showing off your railways on your own personal sites.

Is there a thread listing LargeScale Centralians, who are happy to share their web page / home page? If not, should/could (could, as I don’t have one) there be a thread dedicated to HERE’S MY RAILWAY website?

most of those, that want to show off their stuff, have a link in their signature.

but you can show off your stuff without a website.
just click on the blue point with the plus sign - choose a category - give it a title - and start bragging.

Ah Thanks Korm.
I’ll turn the signatures option on.

seems, that i did not express myself understandable.
i meant to tell two seperate things. one, to look out for links in signatures (of guys, who have a website)
the other, to show off your railway (without a website) by making your own thread for telling about your layout.
like “the growing of the D.U.RR.” (downunder railroad)

If you are interested in a railroad just across the “Friendly Border”, try looking at www.ovgrs.ca The place where friends meet, and have fun, operating a railroad, every Saturday (Weather permitting).
We have been doing it for over 30 years !!

Thanks Korm,

I told Herself that Korm suggested DURR for our down under railroad.

Herself vaguely recognised the German origin of the word DÜRR, so looked it up and told me “DÜRR implies a dry, dead, withered, parched, barren, infertile, sterile thin, scrawny dried up, wizened garden railway.

…and I said, the picture I posted clearly would have made Korm think that too.

“ Eun Dürr Gartenbahn” I’ve added it to my signature just in case @bruce Bruce’s first editor needs another article. LOL.

SĂ«nih!
