I spent the last few days working on my HLW boxcar. I spray painted the car rudy brown and then washed it in black. The final touch was a light spray of the Krylon camo tan. The roof already looked like a tar roof but it came painted a brown color so I sprayed the roof black and dulled it with some camo tan. Then I added some black lines to represent tar. The roofwalk was also repainted to look more like wood. The more I do this weathering the easier it gets and what a difference. I know I have said this a hundred times but I love the HLW stuff. I compared it to the bachmann and the height is the same just a little shorter. This is the style boxcar I wanted for my RR. It has more of a backwoods look to it. I just have to add some decals New
Good job, Shawn. It takes practice…
Nice work Shawn. Guess we move you into the intermediate class for the challenges
Looks real good, Shawn.
Now you just need some decals.
May I offer a suggestion…the Russell Diaper Company

Ralph Berg said:Sweet....so considering what has been stated and I still wear diapers guess this means my entries go in the beginner class. Right? it's only fair as I see it? Hey Dave, I have some bubble gum so when we go out for recess I will share it with you and Shawn but not Ralph. ;)

Guess my dad(Andy) and I will have to bring our MUed diesels onto your trackage rights. Then while you girls are enjoying your “tea and crimpets” at noon with pinky finger raised sippin Earl Gray, we shall hammer our equiptment down the line and destroy your lacy dolly playin railroad.
I’m thinking a string of U-boats or geeps followed up with dash 8’s or 9’s. Hell I probably couldn’t run a high speed Amtrak there.
Womens work!
You guys are the best!
Shawn,
I have to admit that with your excellent weathering job that Hartland box car looks mighty good.
