Large Scale Central

We lost another. Matthew Brown (Matthew OV) has passed

I’m very sorry to need to pass on the news that we have lost another from the Large Scale and Railfan communities. Matthew Brown (who went by Matthew OV on MLS) has passed on.

Matt and I met in these forums and have been internet friends for over 20 years. He recently went back to work after making a remarkable recovery from a major stroke. His last Facebook post was 4 days ago while waiting in line for a COVID vaccine. I have no further information at this time. The family has requested privacy.

Rest in Peace Matthew. You will be missed by many.

So sorry to hear the news, prayers to the family and all friends

Sad to hear of Matt’s passing. Our prayers for the family and friends.

I’m gonna miss Matt - he was a good friend. I last saw him about 5 years ago - we had a great day of rail fanning the local area.

Prayers to Caroline and the family.

Condolences to the family

Damn. Condolences to his family.

Condolences to family and friends…

RIP, prayers for the family

Sorry to see this. We got to meet Matt on our trip to the Tweetsie. He was a nice guy and we considered him a friend. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear of this. I remember chatting with him a little over on the other forum over the years. He will be missed. our condolences to his family.

I did not know him, but it is always sad when we lose one of our ranks. My condolences to family and friends.

Sincerely, David Meashey

It appears that calling hours, funeral service, burial and reception will be held in Clinton, Connecticut, Matthew’s home town where his mother still lives. Times, but not all locations, were posted in the Facebook Valley Railroad group. PM me if you want the details.

So sorry…

I met Matthew back in 2008 on a trip of Eastern Railroads that Doug Matheson put together, along with Matthew’s assistance.

I remember visiting Matthew at his home where he had a VERY nice basement layout…

Matthew had arranged for us to visit the Spencer shops where we all climbed around the ET&WNC triple combine, but for a reason I cannot recall, he is not in THIS picture!

Later we took a ride on the original roadbed of the ET&WNC RR. As I recall it was all setup by Matthew.

We went on the rails in an electric car, it’s VERY hard to imagine this being done in even a SMALL narrow gauge locomotive.

I wish I had more pictures to remember him by… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif)

I’m sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear about Matt

We conversed a lot and he bought my contest winning Army loco

He was a neat guy and good to talk with, he really loved the hobby

My condolences to the family
