Large Scale Central

We finally were able to post to YouTube

Just to let you know, we have finally been able to post a video of our layout to YouTube, now if only we can get our Mac to help us do some other things besides freeze up, we may also be able to describe what your seeing. Your comments regarding the layout are encouraged, just please, be gentle. To find it got to YouTube and search for “Romocomaka #4”, or the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVP6LMaR8dU

Methinks you need one of those track brushing cars.

Wow, that’s a lot of parallel mainline track! You could hold races!

I don’t envy you the job of keeping all the leaves off.

Where did U get all of the track?
Take a look at my lousey track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sorY2K-FYH4
Or this one I had a small siding and my 101 engine sits on it with a small freight,my Pennsy passenger and my New York Central is not shown. My B&O is almost 14ft long as it is seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlrLFzrhcY8

Let me know what you think I am changing this run a little , I’m removing the sidding.

Wow that is an awesome layout. I would recommend a cordless leaf blower. You will have that baby Clean as the board of health. Then you can show us some trains.

Wow Noel that is amazing and a nice layout also. Only one question, did you rob a bank to buy all that track, holy molly I hope you don’t run track power you’ll spend all your time cleaning instead of running trains.

Chuck

Thank you for your responses.
There is quite a bit of track, but after many years of collecting and not doing anything, we finally used what we had. Didn’t realize how much that was.
Thank you for your thoughts. We do have one of those sweepers, which, right now, requires an engine to push it along, but one of the winter projects will be to make a self contained unit that will be radio controlled, including powering the brush, so we can clean the sidings, etc. I have also made a blower car from suggestions that have appeared on this forum and others, and it does work well with the track, but not powerful enough to clean the entire deck of the layout. We use a B&D portable blower when it gets real heavy (and it does), but we have to be careful as the ballast is functional, there isn’t a single screw or nail holding the track, just the stones from crusher fines. To get ready to operate, normally all we have to do is run the sweeper and blower, and ,if we’re running track power, use a wallboard sander to clean the rail, if just battery, we don’t have to do that. I have to admit, cleaning the track for track power does take about 1/2 hour, which would be nicer to have just to run, but this will be another winter project, building a track cleaner that will get rid of the grime on the tope of the track without removing the track surface.
I’m hoping to make another video demonstrating the sweeper and blower in action, but right now there doesn’t seem to be a lot of time to even run the trains. Hopefully that will change in the next couple of weeks before the snow flies.
Again, thank you.

Noel
