Stuck back in the 1880’s, Doc Brown makes a steam powered Flux Capacitor. Here is the napkin:
Wayne, what happens when it hits 88 mph?
That is when the big hand becomes part of the build.
" you’re going to see some serious sh*t!!! "
If its Bachmann it derails
The movie has 2 different locomotives, the one that pushes Marty and then falls off the cliff. The other when Doc Brown returns married, with twins Jules and Vern.
I’ll be running an LGB Mogul.
Whaaat?
This is getting out of hand
Nothing this weekend so far. I am the Campmaster at Camp Ware for the scouts. Very cold but a couple brave soles in tents.
I did spend a little of the alloted cash for the Flux Capacitor. Hope it arrived while I’m away.
Back from camp, I got started on this build.
LGB Mogul has the rear drivers close to the front two, not spaced back like the real Mogul. Most LGB stock seems to be shorter, probably so they all can follow the R1 radius track. Another LGB wrong detail is the coal tender. Pennsylvania RR as well as others have coal tenders with flared sides. LGB’s wood tenders have the flared sides.
This tender will be a good choice for my steam powered Flux Capacitor. Disassembled I find a poorly mounted aftermarket sound card and the weight unsecured.
You can see the randomly drilled sound holes for the speaker, also loosely sitting in place. The tender will be an excellent place to grab the needed track power for the Capacitor. I didn’t receive the parts I ordered, this week I hope.
I am near sighted. Usually I take off my glasses and I can see okay. Well the one thing I learned this MIC build, I need to get me some plus 2 or 3 safety reading glasses. Took me 3 tries. Drilling a 1/8" hole, 3 times in 1/4" plastic. Three is the charm, right?

Reading glasses, try 1.5x first. I have the same issues, but I found they were all needed. I got mine at the Dollar Tree so minimal costs.
I’ve been somewhat entranced by your annual pinewood derby reports.
Does the derby have a Parents division as well? I keep thinking, I’m sure some involved parents would not only like to help their child but build and race cars themselves. I know I would…
Yes, the old timers. Trying to load a video with the new phone. No luck
Maybe this time? You’ll have to turn your monitor sideways. Note the instant replay on the projector screen!
Back on topic, here it is my version of the Flux Capacitor steam engine.
Light source mounted in the tender, using track power. I had more planned for the tender, out of time.
Love it.
How much do you have left over from your $35 budget?
Wayne for only $16.99 AUD (approx. 69 CENTS USD😜) you could add a 1:24 Doc. Brown & Marty figurine.
