For some insane reason, while looking at a photo of an aristo water tower, I thought of the old t.v. show ‘Petticoat Junction’…Remember how the girls would swim in the water tower??? (a fond memory of mine! ;^)) and then ‘rest’ at the tanks edge??? Well, I just realized that water tower didn’t have a roof??? Was this common practice, and if so why??? To catch rain water??? Would’nt the water evaporate as soon as the sun came out??? And what about critters that would fall in, if there were no roof??? Which brings up the question, did dead critters (or even live ones) ever wind up in the boiler???
