Relatively new to the hobby and thought I would try my hand at putting some buildings outdoors next spring. I found a birdhouse at one of the local large craft stores - AC Moore. Using it as a starting point for my water tower, I covered the tank with ripped down pieces of cedar. The spout is a black felt pen (cut on band saw at 45 degree angle). Chain came from a craft store (homemade jewelery section). Bands are electrical ground wire. Bottom line…I had fun, it was super cheap (the birdhouse was on post Christmas sale for $3). Not perfect, but I can’t wait to see it on my small layout. I will send pics of the small layout in the spring. I live in the NE and have covered the entire landscape with a tarp to keep the 6’ xx 8’ fish pond from filling with leaves and debri.
