Warrior Run Locomotive Works Fire

Warrior Run Locomotive Works (Clem Ojevich’s shop) was heavily damaged in a fire today. I don’t know much more than that (that’s pretty much what Clem posted on Facebook). Thoughts and prayers for Clem as he works through this.

That’s Horrible news. Clem has always been a stand up dealer, and I have always appreciated his commitment to keeping scratch builder’s well supplied. I visit his booth at ECLSTS every year to stock up. I’m glad to hear that he is ok, since he is posting on FB. I hope he was well insured to help offset this tragedy. I’m sure he has a long road ahead to dig out.

That’s a real bummer.

Clem is a great guy. I’m glad there were no known injuries. Hope everything works out for him.

He posted it is a total loss

No one was hurt, either in the building or the firemen, so that’s great. You have to wonder if at the age of 74 he’ll want to start all over again or call it a career. I hope he had his fire policy safe. It’s too bad no matter what.

Glad to hear no one physically injured !

Hope Mr. Ojevich (and others involved in this business) recover from this catastrophy.

Glad that no one was hurt. I feel bad for Clem One of the nice guys in the hobby.

This is indeed bad news. Clem is a great guy. I hope the modular was still in the trailer from the Scranton trip and not back at the shop. Parts and pieces can be replaced (assuming there was insurance) but that modular layout is superb.

Man, that sucks. Glad nobody got hurt.

Wow! Sad news. Hope for the best.

NANTICOKE – It’s the end of an era for a man who lost his hobby shop in Nanticoke.

A fire ripped through the place Thursday night, and the owner doesn’t plan to rebuild.

The man who owned that shop in Nanticoke is Clem Ojevich. He says he had his life in the shop. Now, all that’s left are his memories.

“It’s like everything’s a total loss. There’s nothing you can salvage, very, very, very little.”

Clem Ojevich picked up the pieces of decades of memories the day after fire heavily damaged his hobby shop on South Market Street in Nanticoke.

“I saw plumes of black smoke coming out of the siding,” said John Byrne of Nanticoke.

The building is where Ojevich gathered with friends every week to race slot cars. His shop sold those cars and model train equipment, but no longer.

“I had a very, very unique business, that nobody else kind of does, but it’s all gone,” said Ojevich.

The good news is the building is insured and investigators think the fire was accidental.

“It’s going to come down to probably some type of electrical in the back room there, couldn’t pinpoint it because of so much damage,” said Nanticoke Fire Chief Kevin Hazleton.

So much damage, his friends can hardly bear to look at what’s lost.

“It’s just, just horrible,” said Dave Kennedy of Hughesville. “I mean, his family spent their whole lives in there. I don’t know how they’ll recover.”

Ojevich doesn’t plan to.

“At 74, I don’t think I want to restart again, you know? This is basically my hobby. I came here every day because we had a business on this block since 1945 and you come here every day for your whole life and what do you do?”

No one was hurt in that fire. It’s unclear if the building will have to be torn down.

So sad! I’m glad he ok.
