Warrior Run Loco Hobby store is closed

This is sad news that we have lost another local hobby store.

Last Thursday at Clem’s store in Naticoke, PA, there was an awful fire. No one was hurt. I have not talked to Clem but he was interviewed on local TV and stated he was devastated and will not rebuild. Clem is 74 years old and his family has had this location since 1945.

To see the interview go to channel TV16. http://wnep.com/2016/02/19/its-like-everythings-a-total-loss-nanticoke-hobby-shop-gutted-by-fire/

Clem was schedule to be at the East Coast Train Show.

From what I heard he will be at York. His module was spared. It is sad news. I never got to visit his store, it was on my to do list. I just saw him at Scranton.

Yeah I hate to hear this stuff. But I think the mom and pop local hobby stores are going extinct. The Internet and your Hobby Towns and Hobby Lobbys are taking over. I am guilty. Its a 30- 45 minute drive to my local hobby store and they likely have very little I need. I want to see them survive but it wont be on my nickle sadly. I should. I need some stuff maybe I will swing in there and give them my money. It is sad to see them go. I remember as a bright eyed boy I loved going to the local hobby store and wandering for an hour to buy a tube of model glue. I buy from my local hobby shop even though he doesn’t even carry train-related stuff. I get my paint, adhesives, and other modeling necessities there, so I want him to stay in business. I also buy models there when they fall into my sphere of interest. I just bought a 1/72 Skipjack submarine model there. I was on two of that class boat in the Navy, so I wanted a nice big model of it.

There was a small mom and pop hobby shop in Costa Mesa back in the 70s. I insisted that the owner order a Western Scale Models O scale Stamp mill for me. He pointed out that I could order direct, but I held firm.

Little did we know that Western scale Models gave him free advertising by listing his store as a place to order the kit in Model Railroader. He was so happy he gave me a lifetime 10% discount! His was the only store where I could get 3’ lengths of strip wood.

This is a little bit of good news in an otherwise very sad story. Thanks!

I wish I had a store like this to buy from locally. We have Sunset Junction which is a train store and mostly HO and N. There is one multipurpose mom and pop in North Spokane B&B hobbies but I always forget about them and they are 45-1hr away. I have a Hobby lobby 20 minutes away. I end up there and they suck. The Hobby Town is just as far as B& B

I talked to Clem yesterday and he is in good spirits, but not all is lost. He has recovered several locomotives and some consignment product, but most of all his computer hard drive. He said; that he will continue to take orders and do installations from his home, but most of all he will be at York.

If you have a chance, please take some time to reach out to him.
