Wanted: USATrains D&RGW Boxcar #3256

Looking to complete my D&RGW boxcar fleet. I have all the other boxcar road numbers they have made over the years (in the “flying” Rio Grande scheme).

If you have one, I’d like to purchase a USA Trains (Charles Ro) D&RGW (Rio Grande) boxcar R1944, road number # 3256. It’s from their American Series 1/24 scale wood side boxcars.

Car looks like this

I have a spare road number #3689 if you’d like to trade.

Thanks,

Matt

I looked on eBay and found several cars with the flying Rio Grande, but none with that road number. I myself do look for certain cars mainly on eBay, if I wait long enough one will show up someday.

Ah thanks. Yeah I’ve been looking on eBay for this particular one for quite some time.

I have several saved searches too in case it pops up there.

Thought I’d post here if someone might have one.

Found one at Vinies, is this the one?

Did you call usa / Charles Ro they might have one?

“Vinnies” turns out to be a storage building in Brooklyn NY.
Just sayin…

I believe that Vinnie’s boxcar is an AMS model, or maybe a Bachmann Spectrum. More detailed than USA Trains model. And also 1:20.3

Oh and that’s also a no go with USA Trains having any. These were made back in 1989.

But I sure appreciate all the help.

My current roster of these include road numbers:

3083
3240
3271
3338
3393
3689

If you are interested. The pic shows 3271, but they say they are 3272 and 3273. I know it’s not the one you want, but you don’t have them listed on your roster.

I have found on eBay that some who list, say RR Cars show pics of cars like the ones they are selling and not the actual car, etc. eBay does offer a look-a-like photo service which I never use when selling, but if the seller doesn’t show the box end with the correct number, I always contact the seller for the correct car number that they are selling to clarify what they are buying.

That’s very interesting on 3272 and 3273.

I didn’t know these variants existed

Apparently there are also #3274 (USA Trains R19081C) and #3275 (USA Trains R19081D) out there as well.

And here I thought I was only 1 away from a complete set :flushed:

There is all kinds of them. :grinning:
regular box cars and outside braced box cars.

Oh gosh, thankfully I’m only collecting the “regular” wood side boxcars with “Flying” Rio Grande logo.

Funny thing is, they have only released one (#78) in their wood side reefer series…well only one in the prototype yellow sides, oxide red ends/roof paint scheme.

Sure I can number my own, but I like factory painted models way more than decaled/dry transfer cars. Holds up way longer.
