Wanted: Thomas' metal truck wheels

I have a few Thimas freights and an LGB flat painted to fit. Unfortunatately it has plastic LGB wheels, and the Thomas cars have big metal spoked wheels, like the attached photo.

Does anyone have any scrap or unwanted Thomas train cars with the big metal spoked wheels that they’d like to sell ? Or does anyone know of a source for metal wheels about 1.5" in diameter over the treads ?

Pete,

I’ve done the same with some Troublesome Trucks. At Marie’s Jason showed his new 18" curley spokes, they’re only 1.314" dia, fairly close. Gary Watkins lists Sierra Valley 20" spoked at 1.459", closer if you can get them. I think even a slight size discrepancy would look OK, might put curly spokes on my Lord Steamy cars, I like the look.

Let us know how you make out,

Tom

And the LGB spoked wheels won’t work?

The ‘Thomas’ wheels on my cars measure 1.575" across the treads (now where have I heard that dimension before. OK I remember. . .) I haven’t managed to find anyone who has Gary Watkins curly spoke wheels - Clem says he’s out of them and Gary is out of business. In addition, they are 7/8ths scale and have very wide treads - not that it matters on a Thmoas scale car.

Nope - way too small at 1.1" diameter. I put Accu coach wheels on it for the moment.
