Does anyone have a couple of Bachmann 4-6-0 sound cards (the later model with the volume control) in their junk box that they could pry loose of? I need to convert two of my 4-6-0s so my fleet all sounds the same. TIA
Is that in the tender?

Yes Lou, it mounts in the tender.
I have one that got under brackish water during Hurricane Sandy. How can I test it before sending you trash?
You would have to apply 9v to the power leads and attach a speaker and then intermittently short the input leads to simulate the chuff sensor, I would imagine.
OK. It will have to be after the Show. If it works, it’s yours. The rest of the engine and tender has salt crystals on the metal surfaces, so I don’t hold a lot of hope.

You don’t happen to have a picture of one? I have a bunch of old circuit boards in a box, one even has a rheostat on it, but I have no idea if theere sound cards or not. I have 2 B’mann 10 wheelers and 2 Annie versions, and all but one has been converted to Bat/RC with Sierra sound, so the chances are I have 2 of them anyway. .
I have one. I’ll bring it to york
Maybe cheaper to mail it then have Joe drive all the way to York up from Florida…

Ken,
Here is the type I am looking for…
Joe, that’s looks like what I have here. One with the rheostat still attached and one without the rheostat, but that’s here too. It’s just been cut off. The wires are still all there, too. Send me your address and I’ll send’enm on down to ya.
Whether they still work or not is another question. They been sitting in a box on the shelf for 10 years…
Ken,
Thank You. PM sent
Your welcome Joe. I don’t know why I keep that stuff, but ya never know, someone, someplace at sometime, might just have a use for it…
If you had a PCB assembly under water I would recommend to wash it first in clean water and then use a mild soap like Ivory soap and a tooth brush. Clean well and rinse, then if you have a compressor, blow off all the water you can. Set aside for 24-48 hours to thoroughly dry before applying power.
Did this in the air force cleaning long range radar electronic equipment.
Do not use this cleaning procedure on any transmitter equipment.
Dennis,
Good advice. I was an Aviation Electricians Mate second class in the US NAVY and would have done the same thing under the same circumstance.
