I am hoping someone has a stack from the four that come in the I decorated set when new. It would be great to get even straight or tapered version just to fill the void.
I did find Trackside details and hope he can find one that will fit. One of the originals might be better.

Look at Ozark Miniatures they may have one
There are 2 truck and 3 truck Shay versions - I suspect the stcks are similar, so that may broaden your search.
Update: The part number for the stacks on the 36-ton and the 55-ton shays is the same. There are stacks in stock at the estore for the 55-ton shay.
Wel, whaddya know. A thread on the Bachmann forum produced this:
