Walnut wanted for gun stocks

OK, guys, serious question here. An acquaintance planning on making replacement gunstocks for Swiss rifles and carbines, has been stiffed by a lumber dealer in Yakima, WA.

Here is what is needed - NOT stock blanks, but real American walnut planks, as detailed here -

'For the k11 and k31 - 10" x 2.25"(or thicker) x 42" planks. Not stock blanks, but planks. This gives a diagonal cut with 8" on the end and 2" on the nose. Those sizes are optimal. A stock blank would have to be 8" x 2.25" x 42".

For the 1911 types we’ll need the same dimensions with the length being 51", and that’s going to be harder to find.’

Any help on this important [to those of us who have an interest in Swiss military arms], please contact me without delay on [email protected]

Supplier can be anywhere in the lower 48, but preferably somewhere in the PNW zone - the stockmaker is based in Montana.

TIA

Black Walnut, English Walnut, Claro Walnut, European Walnut???

My youngest boy worked there at one time and I know the family.

Thanks, Ken - that’s great!!! I’ve passed it on to Paul within the last ten minutes, and e-mailed the Hearn company too.

A 42" stock for a 1911?

Hells Bells, my 1911 is a whole lot shorter than that, and not Swiss!
