Large Scale Central

W&L - versus - L & B

Over on another forum, a gentleman called loeskblues has bought the AccuCraft ‘Lew’ locomotive made by AccuCraft, and is assembling a nice consist to go behind it.

The reason I’m posting this here is that what his MANY photos on the other site show is the remarkable disparity in size between the Welshpool & Llanfair brake van/guards van and the box cars of the Lynton & Barnstaple.

It seems to have been overlooked that the prototypes run on different gauges - the W &L is one of the very few 2ft 6in gauge tracks in UK, while the L & B runs on 1ft 11.5in.

Just be aware, if anybody ever gets that interested in British NG, that there is a great a disparity between British NG lines as there is between the Maine two-footers and the Colorado 3-footers.

Yes, those 2 axle L&B box cars are tiny. I have a couple myself.
The small size of those L&B 2 axle cars would probably look fine behind a Bachmann Lyn even though the engine is a smaller scale. Some chopper couplers on the Bachmann and it will be OK by me.
Track shack have some nice private owner versions at the moment.

Andrew

Andrew, if I get a minute this evening after cleaning out the mess the chickens made in our cars I’ll post a couple of little vids on YT of my ‘Earl’ - named after the famous lobster - hauling a consist of W &Ll with that lovely little ‘Seddon’s Salt’ boxcar in it. It blongs to my BIL who often posts here from wild North Wales.

Best

tac, up here and around the corner at bit.

PS - John in Trackshack is our default dealer - nobody does deals like he does, hence him getting the order for my CPR passenger cars.

PS - there is also a cameo appearance by the boss - see if you can spot him wearing his ‘I love trains’ pin from the Sumpter Valley Railway.
