Let me echo those sentiments.
Thanks TAC and Tony, I appreciate your sentiments. I’ve been following the topics on this forum since May and have enjoyed the added dimension these discussions have given in this presidential race. I’ve enjoyed both your input, opinions and comments. However, I was somewhat disappointed when you stopped voicing your opinion Terry. Be that as it may, I also appreciate your reason for doing so Sir.
Although my initial choice for this race has not changed, I have learned a great deal.

Went over about 6:45 or so to the school where I vote. The line was fairly long (by our standards) then (maybe 100-150 people) but at 7:00, polls opened, and I had a ballot in hand by 7:03. Did my civic duty, and off I went. Painless.
Traffic was pretty snarled at 7:15 EST this morning as I approached our poling place at a local school in our tiny town. The police arrived and cleared it up in just a few minutes. The parking lots were busy but I found a spot quickly. Once inside the lines are split alphabetically by street names. Some had 15-20 people in line but my door only had three ahead of me. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less. I even had time to stop for coffee on the way to work
Nasty vote fraud: someone hacked into my university’s email system and sent out a fake message from the Provost:

This fake mesaage went out to every student and employee GMU has over 20, 000 students, mostly commuters. It’s a transparent effort at fraud
No line at the Knollwood FD this morning. Just walked in, got my registration slip, traded it for the ballot, filled in the bubbles and stuck it in the machine. There were other voters, but no line.
Kim and I went in about 8:30. I was number 115… clerk said it’s been slow so far.
Both Park 'n Eat and Barstucks are giving away free coffee to people who have voted. Now THAT’s Yankee Ingenuity… You sucker people in with a really inexpensive freebie so they’ll buy something else, wrap it all in the flag and call it civic mindedness.
Nah, nobody is that cynical
This is the day that counts ( and may get recounted). It is an American’s duty to vote.

It is also a felony offence to post misleading information about the date of the presidential election with intent to influence or hinder the voting procedure. I hope that whoever sent it gets their a&se lit up for this stupidity. tac www.ovgrs.org

Or, perhaps it is so transparently phony as to cause someone other than Mike to crack a smile.
Yes, there’s nothing more comical than vote fraud, is there? I remember how hard you were laughing about ACORN.
Here’s what the Provist wrote:
"Dear Colleagues,
It has come to my attention early this morning that a message was hacked into the system fraudulently stating that election day has been moved. I am sure everybody realizes this is a hoax, it is also a serious offense and we are looking into it. Please be reminded that election day is today, November 4th.

You are saying that this had to be sent to people that are attending a place of “higher education” or work there, and then there is a wonder about the future of this Country or our education system. Good Lord, could any of them find their way out of a paper bag? "Buy them books and buy them books, but they still spell “taters” with a “P”.
At least one Conservative, Dan Quayle, the highly educated VP, couldn’t spell either.
I’m sure most people knew it was a fake right away. But I’m also sure some people were thrown by it. I mean, there are people here who think Obama is a muslim, or Obama is an Arab, just because they got an email about it.
That email went out to 35, 000 people. GMU is a big place. It has a very high percentage of students who are immigrants or children of first generation immigrants. They get it, they forward it to someone else, it becomes a rumor and damps voting. I assume whoever did it was thinking in terms of cost/benefit analysis, in which case it’s sort of like spam:
cost to send the email–practically zero
But if you get three-six-a dozen people to not turn out, then you’ve accomplished your goal
Unless you get caught, which I hope is what happens
It’s not a huge deal, and I’m not trying to make it one. It was just an odd email to get from the Provost, and a sign of the kind of election fraud that actually happens
No line when I voted today. NC had early voting this year. They have estimated up to 50% voted early.
The local news reports voters having to wait in line as long as 4 hours in Greenville SC and Spartanburg SC.
Many thanks to all the people who volunteer at the polls.
Ralph
No line where we voted. We were number 214 and 215 in our precinct. We always vote about the same time. Many times we are in the 160’s to 180’s. Uninteresting elections, we have been as low as number 60 something. I believe a lot of Americans are voicing their opinoin. That is always good, no matter the results.
