popcorn - soda - first row seat - impatience…
Is it done yet?
Pretty cool Master Cliff. Almost makes me want to find a spot for some flats. Hmmmm…
Cliff, The first parts are coming out really GREAT, looks like your brick layout has turned out fabulous. I like your multi layers,
I have checked with Harbor Sales, it looks like I will be buying the product from them. It looks to be the exact same as PB but a little
more economical. Thanks for the lead.
What windows and doors are you going to use? Are you planning to Laser Them?

Thanks very much Dennis! I’m glad ya like it so far. And I’m pleased I could give you a lead on a product!
I’m planning out lasering window jambs into the foam; and in back, there will be acrylic. Either a dark gray for windows not cut all the way through, or an acrylic light box for those that are. Either way, I’m planning on gluing on a thin layer (tbd material) in front of that to represent window frames & muntins.
Test fitting the balcony pieces… These were tough shots, 'cause I had to turn the room sideways to get 'em.
This is all pretty fragile, so I’ll add a second acrylic layer to the posts to give them a little better chance.
Cliff
Wow, those look great, Cliff. I think your off the hook on the virus, Momma already had me stocked up on the popcorn and coke. Carry on.
Wow Cliff that is looking super,
Looking at that first Google Earth photo of the Piper’s Opera house made me think “How will he re-create that “digital camouflage” look?” Then I noticed the sky. Duh.
Have you thought about putting images behind the doors/windows to add more detail?

Thanks for all the nice compliments guys, means a lot!
Jim, you got it, the acrylic boxes behind the window rows will be lit, and have depth for curtains and silhouettes of people, maybe a little more.
Wow, I don’t feel let down at all!
I’m thinking I’ll need to rename my layout as; Kiddie Land!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Glad you’re ok with it John! And before you ask, no, it’s not done yet… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
And in case no one else has said it recently, your layout is a gorgeous masterpiece; and if it could ever be described as a “kiddie land,” it’s surely one for all ages!! There’s nothing “kiddie” about your model making though, and I’m looking forward to seeing your completed cutaway mine. Maybe in person, cause I still hope to get out there some day… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Don’t worry about it John. Before you know it them flats will be rundown by outlaws, hookers, booze and bullet holes! If not I can always take a drive down there this summer and fix them up for him. Besides they are already screaming a 4 or 5 color paint scheme on them. Let the man hang his curtains though!

Ha ha! Yeah, that and a 1:1 garden hoe, or a deer hoof… These balconies are fragile, unlike John’s building materials (rocks and metal and timbers and adobe) which will outlast us all. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I cut the light box parts today…
The main box, with its clear front, will be cemented together. The white back will be taped in place (I abandoned the tabs & wire ties; it worked well, but the more I thought about it, the idea of waterproofing took over). A few vent / condensate drain holes are in the bottom side. The clear front has mounting holes for #100 SS pan heads to screw the box to the foam (which will get their heads covered with RTV).
12v “warm” LED tape will go along the top, and the white plex should help give a general illumination behind any curtains or whatever…
About the tape though. And this is only for the back panel, because all the other sides will be (at least theoretically enough) bonded / sealed. I was going to use aluminum duct tape, but after trying it, it not only sticks super well, it’s too fragile to take back off.
Any thoughts on a nicely-sealing, weather-resistant, UV-OK, narrow (~3/4") tape that can be peeled back off, without leaving goo everywhere? There’s issues with others I’ve used or read about, so feel free to opine.

Get a job as you are making us all look like slackers !

hmmm… wearing belt and braces, i would check the white panels, if they are somewhat transparent to light.
if they are, you might get some nice halos behind your flats. (suited for churches…)
(my remedy for that is either thick black paint, or glued on alu foil.)
