I’m at work now and my PC gives me warnings about Media Player plug-in security risks and will not display either copy. So it works, but not for everyone.
Joe - I’ve been down that road with the XP version of Movie Maker because my camera outputs MP4. Any Video Converter did not work for me. I ended up having to use a Windows 7 computer and newer version of Movie Maker that likes MP4.

Doesn’t WinAmp play MP4s? and WinAmp is free too.

No specific filters. Standard issue ant-virus / anti-spyware. Its an older XP machine that probably hasn’t received any Windows Media Player updates because I don’t use it. I think the warnings come from Firefox who thinks the plug-in is vulnerable.
