Sorry for the late reply, I used the drive mechanism from an HLW Waddling Goose. I picked up replacement motor/gear/axle mechanism when HLW shut production, wish now I had picked up more. I’ve seen similar mechanisms from England but I can’t remember the name. I still had a couple left . One for this and one for a repair of a previous bash. Maybe find a waddling goose on eBay or train show would be the best source now.
Dave where did you find lead figures? Got a pic?
Bill;
They were offered over 30 years ago by a German company. Can’t remember the name now, but it wasn’t a major player like Preiser or Merten. Also used a pewter conductor on the rear deck, and I do know he was offered in the Walthers Large Scale catalog of that time. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but a LOT of these figure makers have come and gone in the interim.
Actually, I can’t even remember who made my lead ass (donkey) anymore.
Regards, David Meashey
P.S. Sorry, it was before digital cameras were common. The figure company may have been Wimmer.
I still think that bag of figures looks like a pissed off grumpy toad hence my reference.
Thanks for reply Vic. I will look into that.
That looks Very Nice Vic !!
LOL look what arrived yesterday. I ordered this in December, well in advance of the start of this year’s Challenge. 3 and a half months later here it is. It’s a photographic record of the Casey Jones as it exists today, from every side inside and out and it is EXCELLENT. Don’t get me wrong. It was worth the wait, but I’m guessing they had to wait for enough orders to make a printing run. If you were thinking of scratch building one, this is a must have.
Again, this only substantiates your superhero powers, Vic.
Of course you’d finish first. They haven’t even lettered theirs yet.
I have three of Tim’s Quick Pic books on EBT cars. They are an excellent resource for details. Tim used to post on one of the forums, or maybe one of the old email groups. I hadn’t heard his name in a while. Good to see they are still releasing books!
That’s awesome Vic…lol!!
