Thank you all Veterans.
Today in our local newspaper under “Today In History”:
1972: The U.S. Army turned over its base at Long Binh to the South Vietnamese, symbolizing the end of direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War.
I was responsible for Section 9 of 13. I still have the Property Book Receipt.
Thanks for your service. My favorite two veterans are my Father and my Step Daddy (both WWII). My Father served on the USS Gleaves, a destroyer of 1938 vintage. My Step Daddy had unusual duty as a guard and kitchen staff at a POW camp for Germans right on the Rio Grande in Texas.
We must never forget those who served.
Regards, David Meashey
Yes a hearty Thank You to those of you who have served.
Hawaii remembers and honors all who wore their country’s cloth:
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life” (Genesis 9:13-15).
Taken at the Grand Army of the Republic Plot, Oahu Cemetery, Honolulu at our annual grave decorating event. The cemetery holds US and foreign veterans from the U.S. Civil War through the present day. They lie with each other, with the prominent, and the unknown alike, and the cemetery takes great efforts to ensure they lie in peace and dignity as is pono (righteous).
Thanks to all who served!
Eric
