Very newbie ? about loco

Interested in running a New Haven live themed freight train. I like the look of this loco. Is it a passenger only system, or can it be used in freight.

I know the second pic is freight, but I like the look of the first loco.

It’s your RR, run it any way ya want…

Thanks Ken. I guess you’re right. I will first be displaying the train in my office, and my office sits right behind the New Haven train station. So I didn’t want people coming in and thinking I REALLY don’t know a thing about trains. I then plan to display a second train going in the direction of New York.

Whatever you do with your locomotives, be sure it has the correct number of rivets compared to the real thing.

Shelley, like Ken said, ““Run it the way you want””… In this hobby, eventually, you’ll find a real prototype for anything you think of modeling, if you know where to look…
and, welcome aboard…

I dont think it would be out of character to run a PA1 ahead of a string of frieght cars. PAs were not the strongest engines as they only had 4 powered axles with weight ditributing idler axles in the middle, but most RRs ran what they had so it wouldnt be too usual to see a passenger engine doing duty pulling a short freight. Besides the magic of model RRing is that you can run whatever you enjoy seeing and dont get hung up on the specifics, just do it.

I like that paint scheme. Sorry, I can’t be of much help identifying those locos or how they were used.

Shelley
the PA/PB were at first for pass use. they then went on to do freight service. I have a PA/PB in the MoPac colors and did some checking on that and MoPac used them all the time for freight service so you would not be wrong in doing so.
hope this helps out.

Out of all the diesels ever built, the PA/PB lash ups were the ones I liked the best, so I may be a little prejudiced and I’m not much of a diesel fan…;).
