Large Scale Central

Very first four feet of trackbed!

A nice grubby day in the garden, clearing out plants that block the path and digging that little trench, lining it with landscape cloth, and pouring in the gravel.

On the gravel, our local building materials supplier, Shamrock, stocks a crushed granite in 1/4" size under the name “Roofing Granite”. Half a five-dollar bag, 2/3 cubic foot weighing 66 pounds filled about four feet. I’m gonna need a lot more rock. Fortunately, they sell it in larger quantities.

The chief inspector has requested that the spread of ballast not be quite so extravagant, referring of course to where I stumbled while pouring the gravel out of the bag. We’ll learn…

So four feet down, a hundred forty to go! Pictures coming.

Make sure you post some pictures. We like pictures and its good for those that cant read (Rooster and Andy)

A little at a time and you’ll get there

Here’s the building site. The bottom terrace is the widest at three feet. I’ll be adding a bench/table at the left end for a turnaround loop and some buildings. Plastic track is for scale
