Heading to Clarkdale pretty soon to ride the Verde Canyon Railroad. Photos later.
Have fun, last year I rode in the engine. I checked out the crew, you’ll be in good hands!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
How was the scenery? Did not get a lot from the site.
Scenery is great and they even have runs under the full moon. Watch for eagles in the canyon. We’ve done it a few times.
Don’t forget to visit Sedona…, if you’ve got the time and $$$. That’s what we would go for. The Jeep tours are really fun as are the helicopter tours. Eat dinner at the airport and watch the sunset from the mesa. They even have air tours to the Grand Canyon. Go north up through Flagstaff and you can even visit the big telescope and meteor crater.
Oh squat! You’re down there and can do all that anytime you lucky…
Thanks Todd, sounds great. Have been to Sedona, and yes the Jeep tour was fun, as well as my own 4 wheel drive vehicle that I went all over with. Have not been there in years, but could probably talk the wife into it, since she not only graduated from the University in Flagstaff, but she was the weather girl on the local TV station.
Thanks for the recommendation guys!
Just got home. Great day. Lots of photos to be posted as soon as possible.
The locomotives pulling our train today. They are a pair of EMD FP7's built in 1953 and used by the Alaska Railroad. They are the only two operating FP7 locos left (there are 8 others on display in museums.)

Wow! My folks had nothing but good things to say about this trip, too, and plan to rent the caboose with some friends. It is on our “to do list,” for sure, especially after these shots!
A few more photos, concentrating on the train…
Entering the tunnel…
Exiting the tunnel…
The train…
Yup, that’s a great ride, Daniel… A few members of our local Preskitt Club did the trip on May 1… Wonderful scenery and food… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
