Valley Power comes online

Ric you have captured the “look” very well .
Delivering the coal inside the overhead door , like that reminds me of ‘our’ old Division street power plant .
And since you added pics while I was posting…the new pictures show the grates for the hopper bottom dumping , like could be done at Warrick , for when the rotateing dumper could not be used .
The ‘our’ , being the power company where I worked 41 years , at the 5 different power plants .
Also the ashes from the boilers were removed from the Division St plant in gondolas , also . And a lot of supplies delivered as well in boxcars and flats , and etc .

Very nice power plant , well modeled .

And NO …I do not miss all of the nasty wet coal and coal dust when it was dry , or flyash and boiler gas !
Oh no , now your model is giving me flashbacks to summer times in a coal fiired power plant , like when you walk outside in the 90’s , …and it feels like air conditioning !

Oh yes , for some more detail …add some shovels , and sledge hammers , laying about , and some long steel rods , 10 to 20 feet long , for pokeing and breaking up stoppages , in the hopper below the grates to feed the conveyor belts .
And outside the overhead door , a wooden bench , or boxes , so someone could get out of the heat for a minute , and sit down to slow down the sweating for a minute , and catch a breath of air .

Lookin good, Ric…

Ric looks great.
Also, tell the Boss happy birthday.

Thank you guys fro the compliments.

Dennis, that’s what I needed educational input. Thank you.

My plan is to dump the ash through an auger on the track closest to the building.

I guess it didn’t show well, but there are two guys on break. Ones talking to the “plant dog” and the other is pouring coffee out of his thermos. They are on the loading platform. Next time I’ll get some better shots of them.

Need those tools, Dennis mentioned. Dirty up the buiding some more. I’ve got to let things dry for a couple of days. Install the auger and then talk to Stan Cedarleaf about signage. Planning on a “Ready Kilowatt” sign, but very faded like it used to be there. We’ll see.
