V&T reacquires coach #20

After a long stay in So Cal, V&T combine-coach #20 finally made it back home to NV State RR Museum last Thursday. She’d been filmed in a number of Paramount movies, and in recent decades resided at the So Cal RR Museum in Perris, CA.

The cooperation between railroad preservation groups is truly outstanding. There are dozens of examples of items “going home” to the home road or museum. It’s really nice to see.

Edit to add- That’s a really classy car!

I so agree, Jon! For years I’ve felt that I’ve missed this or that boat, especially the “golden days” of large scale when there were so many producers and before prices went psycho.

But in this category of steam railroads coming back, I think WE are perhaps in the “golden age,” or are about to be.

The V&T, Nevada Northern, EBT, and of course the UP Challenger & Big Boy, I’m sure others, all recently coming back on line. I love it!!

Yeah, nice car, and for once under cover for all the years at SCRM (and Inland Empire collection before that). The feasibility study to get her fully restored will get under way soon.

Not sure how soon that will be though, since NSRM has so many cool restoration projects underway or in line, and limited staff and funds (always the case, right?). But the staff is awesome, and the public is getting more engaged.

BTW here’s a short promo movie that Carson made, as an invitation for tourists / businesses. NSRM and the McKeen car figure in some.
