V&T NSRM Steam Up 2025

Per the up and coming publication of the V&T Historical Society Telegraph, which I’ve been approved to share:

A 150-year celebration of five celebrated Baldwin locomotives will occur August 29-September 1, 2025 at NSRM in Carson City. The engines are the V&T Inyo and J. W. Bowker, the Glenbrook, NCNG No. 5, and the E&P Eureka…look for train rides, special consists, a photo shoot, historic displays, and much more.

You read it here first!

As a member of the Board of the V&TRRHS, I very much invite you all to this wonderful historic event.

As a citizen of Maryland, yeah, that’ll be tough for me.

But I want you local folks, and you folks that might travel here, to know that this is a worthy go-to thing.

Herself’s surprise purchase was the Eureka & Palisades years ago. I wonder might be able to entice her to go on a little trip too.

Thanks for the post!

I thought V&T was standard gauge? How do the 3 ft locos run?

I so wish the Reno was in shape enough to join these fine engines. Maybe someday.

Um, a bit loosely. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Sorry; the non-smart-ass answer is that the NSRM has RR equipment from all over Nevada, with the Glenbrook having served the logging operations east of Lake Tahoe, and the E & P loco having transported ore in east-central NV. So, both are from Nevada; and the two were near sisters from the Baldwin shops.

Now, Pete, at first I thought you were asking the question “Why are you running narrow gauge equipment on a V&T layout?” (Which I’ve been seriously asked). Answer: Well, I tend to sidestep that question… 1:32 outdoor product offerings on G track, nope… And it’s too late to change, if I’ve overlooked that product line. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Bruce,

If Tom Gray (owner/manager of the resurrected V&T) has his way, the Reno will run again! It’ll be a slow and expensive project… But at least, for now, they are rebuilding the tender in their Virginia City shop.

The loco itself was on display at the 2022 Steamup, just after being transported home from the (now defunct) Old Tucson Studios in Tucson, AZ. She’s currently displayed at the F Street depot in Virginia.
