Very kind of you, Stan. Your decals were PERFECT, as always!!

I’m in a hotel on work travel, reading all your kind words, and want to say thanks for all your thoughts and your friendship.

Enjoy the hookers and booze tonight but when you return home get back to work !

Face-palm double chuckle

[edit] Yeah, twice more, a half hour later

[edit] Three hours later, had to laugh again

[edit] 25 hours later, still funny, and now Mr. Caughey says so too, haha!

Late to the party as usual, but want to add I think you did an exceptional job on this model!!!

Really enjoyed watching your progress.

Thanks very much Rick, I’m glad you like it!

Way over the top Cliff. Thanks for sharing (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

That’s always good to hear, Cliff… Makes the “job” much more satisfying… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Yesterday I started painted the tools and props, and today I finished those. Also made some chocks to keep the car on the stand. And that’s it for the model build, finally!! Then I set up my “studio” for the presentation photos, finally finding a use for that drape I snagged from a junk pile.

Just packing this thing and the powerpoint left to do, yee haw! And I have until October, yay!

Thanks for your company on this journey,

Cliff

Nice, Dirk stopped rolling his eyes, nudge nudge, and gave you The Wink!

A good job, Done Right.

Fantastic job as always, Cliff.

The only nit I have is…the axles on the truck sitting on the deck are too thin.

Dang it David, you’re right. And those bars holding up the brake beams aren’t good.

I have a solution though: she’s all packed, bwooohahaha!!

They are the same axles the flat rides on as well if you look in the mirror. However it’s a fantastic build either way and you could thank him for his post instead of “nitting” it with what he should have done?

Rooster, you shocked me! please don’t start smoking cigars also…

and, if David would look into a mirror, he would see a guy, damaged by adoration of a lighted, artificial leg, wearing a shreddered tie.

what kind of humour do you expect from someone like that?

Cliff, i’m somewhat like David. it is simply annoying, to see you making one flawless modell after the other, while the rest of us is just B.S.ing a little around in a forum growing more silent by the day.

going back to pondering, what i would build, if my butt wasn’t glued to the chair…

I said it was a nit, meaning that its a small thing. As modelers, we have to accept some things, and make some compromises, so that our projects don’t become careers in themselves. Trucks and wheels are where we have to compromise, if we want to run our models. Full sized wheels are proportionality so much narrower then our model’s wheels, and the flanges are smaller.

Yes, it is an awesome build. Makes me feel like a rank amateur.

Korm, my shredded tie has long ago found its way to the landfill. And my Leg lamp was “awarded” to me, its my badge of shame, and I proudly display it. As for my butt being firmly planted on the couch, that is why I was awarded the title of “King Butt Modeler”. Another badge of shame that I wear proudly.

Thanks John. And if Dirk is looking down on us, and pleased with the build, I’d be truly grateful! But honestly, when I first read what you wrote, I pictured him being too busy with his own projects. And an angel standing there saying, “Dirk, you want how many square miles for this? Seriously?” And after Dirk shows his plans, the angel says, “Oh. Well that’s pretty cool, ok then!

Thanks David, Rooster and Korm for chiming in. I envy your skills, but am glad you see some good things in mine.

And I’m grateful to Bob that we have this site to share our work with one another.

As a close-out to this project, I’d like to explain, and offer up, the documents I produced along the way.

I’ll be doing a brief talk on the model at the V&T RR Historical Society Conference in Carson City next week, but I had a bunch more material than would fit in my time slot. So, I worked up some Powerpoints to offer those attendees for download, and I’d like to also make them available to my buddies here on LSC who went through that project with me. The docs are:

D50 article 1 - background

D50 article 2 - articles

D50 article 3 - documents

D50 article 4 - operations

D50 article 5 - model

My talk will only cover article #5, the rest are products of my obsession with the ol’ gal. I’m hoping her remains will be returned to Carson City and restored by NSRM, but who knows.

Anyway, thanks to all who followed along on this project, you really helped motivate me to complete each stage. And massive thanks to Bob M. for continuing to give me this means of communication with the community.

Cliff

Still waiting on a full set of plans like the flanger…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
